Someone put on a couple of brownie recipes awhile back, one was something about chocolate bars melted between the brownie cake and maybe the other was from Paula Dean? Of course I can't remember which thread it is under now. My son's birthday is coming up and was looking for something good to send. Any ideas will be greatly appreciated.

I discovered a wonderful way to send baked goods to Iraq and they arrive liked I just baked them. It would work for all baked goods to KP also. I vacuum pack the food right after it cools and mail it. Without the air it doesn't go stale. Also, it's more compact, so has much less chance of becoming just crumbs. Give it a try.

Ohhhh, I can answer that one and trust me, I wish people would stop posting this stuff. I have ten extra pounds of added weight to my aft regions due to it.

“Get me thru finals” Chocolate Cookie Bars

Preheat oven 350°
24-36 bars

2 Cups crushed Oreo cookies (about 24)

1/2 C butter, melted

2 C milk chocolate chips, divided

1 Can (14 oz) Sweetened Condensed Milk

1 tsp. vanilla

1 C chopped pecans

Combine cookie crumbs and melted butter. Firmly press into 13X9 glass baking pan.

In a heavy saucepan, place 1 C chocolate chips, sweetened condensed milk and vanilla. Melt together over medium-low heat.

Pour evenly over cookie crust. Sprinkle remaining 1 C chopped pecans and 1 C chocolate chips.

Bake for 20 min. Cool completely. Cut into bars and store in airtight container.

The Paula Dean brownies are easy. Just getcha two boxes of brownie mix. Prepare one box & spread in a 9X13 baking dish, line the top with Score candy bars, then spread the other box of prepared mix on top & bake per the directions on the box. OOOOOOOO! I just get all excited & shivery all over just thinking about it. :D

what is score candy? You can tell we don't eat many sweets :)

dads recipe

take box mix
(betty crocker is best)
ADD to typical ingredients
1/4 cup BROWN SUGAR
2Tblespoons REAL BUTTER
1/2 Hershy Bar

Killer

My Paula Dean brownie recipe calls for Symphony candy bars (7 oz size) I've never heard of Score bars, either. Sometimes, the Symphony bars aren't in grocery stores-usually CVS drug store has them, though. They are candy bars-not baking chocolate bars, so look in the candy section. If you use a plain brownie mix, it's nice to use the almond-toffee bar. Or, with brownie mix with nuts, i'll use the plain chocolate bars.

I think she probably means a Skor candy bar which is like a Heath Bar (english toffee).

I guess I made the most awesome boo boo ever on that recipe RichVaMom. I thought you said Score candy bars. Score are chocolate covered toffee. Oooowee they were good but you know what this means.... I gotta bake them with the Symphony bars the next time just to see if I can do myself in.

GOT MILK?

trailsendmt - yeah! Thats what they're called. Dang it. I never read the things. I just rip that wrapper off & down it goes in two bites. They need to make them bigger.

Proud Dad, mmmmmm. I'll give that a try as well. The brown sugar sounds kinda yummy.

You all are just awesome, these is going to be printed now. I have a feeling my aft regions are going to have problems too! Thanks !!!

Jamzmom I'm going to try your recipe. Maybe I'll bring to KP football game on Friday. What I find with brownies that everyone loves is I make brownies according to directions. After they have cooled I frost brownies and add all sorts of things on tops (favorites are marshmellows, snickers and peanut butter cups cut up, nuts, M&Ms or just confectioners sugar). Everyone loves them.

Good grief ! I'm starving now. And I want to skip the whole supper thing and go right to the smorgesborge of dessert samplers you guys are discussing. I've only got 1/2 gallon of milk in the fridge -- it won't be enough for even ME to sample what you guys are talking about.

Going over into the corner to try to NOT be tempted.

Thinking of broccoli ice cream with a sauerkraut sorbet. (Hmmm. It's working. Blech)

My, my, my. The marshmallows put Jamzmom over the edge. I'll be back later. I have an oven to pre-heat.

Jamzmom I made your oreo bars twice in three days. They're outrageous!! The only thing the first time I made it the crust was very wet from butter. I drained on a paper towel and placed in refrigerator. They were delicious cold. Today I used a little less butter and a few more cookies and they came out perfect. My younger son loves them. Thanks for the recipe. I love these quick and easy ones.
