Hi everyone so sorry to bother, but I have a question about the waitlist process. I sent my acceptance to the waitlist the day of decisions, but I havent gotten a confirmation? Am I not on the waitlist? Also, does being on the waitlist affect financial aid because I need a lot. Ive been reading everyones comments and they say how u should appeal by a letter. What should that letter contain, and is there anything else I can do because this has been my dream school for a long time and the waitlist really hurt. One last thing, if i do send a letter, when and where should I send it? Would it be possible right now? Thank you so much and I apologize for all the questions.
@sn1199 Good questions. I’m interested too.
Officially leaning towards Bryn Mawr as my final decision. Super hype to almost be a mawrtyr!!
Hi everyone
I have been wait listed too!
Bryn mawr was my first choice
Then let them know!
The admission office did not reply me either…heart broken
My D is visiting there today for the 3rd time with her dad (his first visit) for admitted students weekend. She’s doing an overnight tonight and unless something goes terribly wrong, she’ll join the Owls!
@Aussiemom I hope she enjoys the visit - I’m sorry that the weather isn’t great today and tomorrow though!
My summer visit with her was on a rainy day. I think the campus looks nice even in the rain (through walking in it another matter) I could tell how excited she was to show me the school (she visited with grandparents in Feb.) that I encouraged her to interview that day while we were there since I wasn’t sure we’d make it back before applying. We’re from NC.
@aussiemom After visiting several colleges during the summer, both of my girls fell in love w/BMC. Now my younger D wants to go there as well. Luckily my D got accepted with some merit scholarship ($12K). She was invited for overnight visit and went by herself last week and hasn’t returned home yet. Currently she’s at NC visiting UNC. She will be returning home tomorrow and we will have to decide between the two. Did your D apply to UNC as well?
I’m assuming that you mean UNC-Chapel Hill. We did visit and take the tour there but D thought it was too big and knew that she preferred the smaller class environment that BMC provides. The only school she applied in our state was Davidson but she didn’t get in. It wasn’t her top choice anyway because it was too close to home.
We had visited Davidson as well but my D thought she would not get in & didn’t apply. My D came home late last night from visiting UNC-CH (& from visiting BMC) so we have a lot to talk about. At least we have narrowed it down to 2. Because we are paying out of state tuition for UNC & we have received some merit scholarship from BMC, the cost of BMC is a little more than UNC-but trying to convince this to her dad is another story.
pvhsca, I know it’s a hard decision! We’re in the same boat and down to two schools Bryn Mawr and Muhlenberg. She loved Tulane too but even with merit aid it’s more than the other two. She wasn’t expecting to like Muhlenberg because she visited Lehigh last summer and thought it would be similar. Muhlenberg has offered generous merit aid but Bryn Mawr set up the FA package with institutional grants which can fluctuate our contribution each year. Decisions, decisions…ugh.
I have a high school sophomore and am wondering how common it is to get a large merit award from BMC. I am asking because the COA seems to be very high here and probably not in our range without a generous merit aid award. We do no qualify for FA. I realize it is very early in our college search but don’t want to have my daughter excited about a school that doesn’t make sense for us.
So I just committed, two days ago now I think wow the time has passed quickly. Hi everyone else who’s committed or deciding!
My D is coming too!!
Not committing, wishing the rest of your luck and whoever gets my spot on the waitlist!
I’m committed
Search for " Bryn Mawr common data" and you’ll find their 30 page report with all the detail. The answer is they give merit aid too a ffsmall share of their students. I tHink it’s five percent but i don’t have it I front of me. Better than some, believe it or not. Haverford it’s zero!
