Bryn Mawr vs. Brandeis

Hello,
I was a first year at Bryn Mawr last year and decided to leave before the second semester for family reasons and some social reasons (I was on the swim team and it was a kind of stressful experience). I’m currently deciding whether I should transfer to Brandeis or return to Bryn Mawr. I don’t really care about whether the school is co-ed or not. I’m just kind of a shy person, so I really want to get a better sense of what both the communities are like (in my experiences at both schools the social environment has been somewhat isolating and I’m not sure whether it will get better at either place with time).
Please help me decide. Any opinion helps!

It doesn’t sound like you have strong reasons to leave Bryn Mawr, and it doesn’t sound like you have strong reasons for wanting to transfer to Brandeis. Perhaps there’s a larger story here (though I’m not suggesting that you reveal more details), or maybe I’m not reading between the lines enough.

Plus, you say that both environments are “somewhat isolating,” so why Brandeis then? I don’t like sweeping generalizations, but the rep on Brandeis is that it’s not exactly a thriving social scene. Are there other reasons–aside from trying out another school and hoping it’s better–for why you are considering Brandeis? Don’t get me wrong. Brandeis is a great school. But you’re already at a great school. That said, only you know if you need and could benefit from a fresh start.
