Bryn Mawr?

I was wondering about my chances of getting into Bryn Mawr. Also, how is their financial aid? How likely is it that I will get a merit scholarship if admitted?

Application:
I think my essay was good. I talked about dealing with the loss of my father.
My recommendations should be good. I am close with all of the teachers who wrote them.
I liked my supplemental essay as well.

Intended Major: Anthropology or Archaeology

I come from a low income household (40k-50k) with three other sisters and a widowed mother. Two of my sisters will be in college at the same time with me. My twin sister is applying to BMC as well.

Also applying to Emory, WashU, University of Richmond, Vassar, and Sewanee if you could chance me for those as well.

I’m sorry to hear you’ve lost your father. That must be very difficult for your family.

Bryn Mawr is test-optional, with about 56% submitting SAT scores and 35% submitting ACT scores. Your ACT is near the 75th percentile of 33. It looks like your academic profile is rigorous. From your ECs you seem interested in books and reading – hopefully that interest really came through in your essays and recs. I think your chances will come down to grabbing the AdCom’s attention with a really compelling essays and very strong teach recs and GC letter. Have you been able to demonstrate interest through campus visits or discussions with regional reps? I don’t know whether applying as twins helps or hurts or neither. I would guess the schools say it doesn’t matter but it’s also probably hard for readers to ignore.

I’ll take stab at other chances:
High reach: Vassar
Reach: WashU, Emory
Match: U Richmond
Likely: Sewanee

Good luck!

Thank you for answering. I do think my essays do show my interest in reading. I talked about how books have helped me and how I came to start the book club. One of my recs is from my school librarian, the sponsor for the club, who I have become very close to. I have not been able to show much interest. I live in TN so it makes it a little hard to visit.

You can look up your admissions rep here:

Looks like she’s a recent alum and would probably be happy to talk with you. Just be aware that they’ve probably started the very intense app reading phase and her time will be limited. But reaching out to explain that visiting campus was a challenge but you are very interested and think the school would be a great fit for you – can’t hurt!
