Hi
I really want to go to an Ivy League school but this past year in 8th grade, I got an 89 in algebra 1 and a 93 in French ( both high school courses). I also did bad on my regents, I got an 84 and bothers me a bit. If I do really well the next 4 years, and take many AP and honors courses, will this affect my chance? I swim as well and I do want to in college but I’m Asian and they’re many other Asians who are way ahead of me in math.
8th grade has little to no consideration in most college admissions. It is my understanding that this is the case even for high school coursework completed in 8th grade.
Colleges only ask for your high school years (9-12). You’re a-OK!
If you follow the footsteps of all of the other Asians who have treated down this path then you are almost certainly doomed to fail.
Don’t be a follower. Choose your own path. Taking tons of APs, swimming and doing math won’t make you stand out. Do something different.
