***BS/MD Interview Notification for Class of 2013***

@bluesky2792 ==> Congratulations.

Could you please post your stats for UAB if possible? Just curious.

@Medicine96 ==> Congratulations.

Could you please also post your stats for UAB if possible? Thank you in advance. :)

Just got interview confirmations for Kean University, Ursinus College, Elizabethtown college, and SBU :)

Congrats butterfli! :slight_smile: are those all affiliated w/ drexel?

Can you get an interview for the same med school through multiple undergrad colleges?

sanguinee - my son hasn’t heard from UAB either way yet either. I wonder if all of the notifications went out on Friday? I thought he was competitive for the first cut although I really had no idea about the next cut. Maybe there will be more news on Monday. Does anyone know if all of the Friday emails went out at the same time? If they’re doing them one at a time, it would take a while. Or, maybe they’ve got applicants ranked and are waiting to see who is still interested until they get to the magic number?

For those invited for an interview - is the interview date set yet?

@pate, if they only interview 30 people out of ALL the applications, I don’t think there are any wait-lists and I think all the interview notifications were sent out - regardless if the candidates show up or not. I spoke to someone at UAB and they said this year had a very large applicant pool and was very competitive…

Is it just me or does it seem like this year a lot of competitive students applied to all the programs?

By the way - anyone applying to Howard’s 6 year program?

So far got called to interview at UMKC and UAB EMSAP
Pgans12 my stats are 2180, 750 writing 720 math 710 reading,GPA 3.97, RANK 7/467 Top 1.6%
Sanguinee I applied to Howard, and already got accepted for full ride for undergrad, waiting for the BA/MD program
UAB sent the interview program details ,they chose 30 out of 339
Does anyone have ideas on possible interview questions?

What day is UAB’s interview? I applied to Howard BA/MD as well & got full ride to their undergrad

Interesting to see stats. My son’s are:

SAT: 2260, 730 writing 770 math 760 reading, unweighted GPA 4.0 (weighted 4.81), RANK 1/305, 800s on SAT 2 tests (biology, math 2 and us history), 5s on AP tests taken (calc BC, US and euro history, bio, spanish, english lang), hospital volunteer, research project with orthopaedic surgeon working on knee replacements, NMSF. Already accepted to MIT, Ga Tech, VCU Honors and UAB (Blazer Elite). Waiting to hear from VCU GMED.

We’ll see what Monday brings.

Wow MIT?! Congrats!

Did your son only apply to 2 BS/MD programs? (UAB + VCU?)

Yes, just 2. He didn’t want an accelerated program, doesn’t want to be locked in and wants to stay near the east coast. He wants to major in biomedical engineering undergrad so that rules out some programs. He is also considering an MD/PhD program so won’t be crushed if he doesn’t get into med school now but it would be reassuring to know he has what they’re looking for.

@sanguinee, UAB’s interview is spread over two days. There’s an evening reception on the 24th and the formal interview is on the 25th. I also got the email Friday afternoon.

@pgans12: my stats are 2310 SAT, GPA is 4.00, Rank is 1/490.
I got accepted to MIT, and I have interviews from UAB and Miami.

Did anyone apply to UMDNJ/Caldwell program?

^you have a really good chance but please, do not ask for chances on this thread. this is solely for interview notifications

Hi, I applied to the PSU/Jefferson program, and was not yet notified of my status (accepted for interview, rejected, accepted PSU undergrad, etc). It said about 5 days ago on my login something about PSU reviewing status of my application for the medical program, and two days ago it changed to " We are confirming our review and an admissions decision will be posted here in the coming days". Can someone tell me what this means and whether or not I still have a shot of the medical program? B/c I applied actually fairly early to the program (mid-october, I think), so I would assume that if I was kicked out of the selection process for the interviews, I would have already received my acceptance into Eberly Science Undergrad, but I haven’t. Any ideas?

@sjshah

Its simple, there are 2 options for PSU that the school posts on your MyPennState Account:

1) an admission decision will be posted in the upcoming days
2) your candidacy will be notified to Jefferson Medical Collegge

If you have any variation of #1, you are indirectly being rejected from the PMM program and will just be accepted as a premed to Penn State. If #2, you should be getting an interview notification in the upcoming weeks. The statements are straightforward.

Best of luck, I contacted an admissions counselor at Penn and she told me the above.

@Chinaboy:

thank you very much for your quick response. Unfortunately, that means I’m out of the selection process, but at least I don’t have to worry anymore whether or not they will accept me.

The outlook for EMPSAP is getting bleaker… I guess I have to look into the other schools I applied to a lot more seriously now. A quick note: UAB never sends formal rejection letters for anything but the actual school (for undergrads, at least). They just assume that over time you’ll eventually figure out you got rejected.
