***BS/MD Interview Notification for Class of 2013***

Anything is possible. I’ll be happy with one program, but they are all hit or miss. Link me to your stats again, I’ll take a look.

Hey guys, how long does it take after sending the Union/AMC supplement for them to notify you on whether or not you got an interview? I send mine about a week ago and I haven’t gotten any news yet.

My D got rejected from drexel/drexel. So far 2 rejection this week

AMC is weird. I got the supplement for Union and declined filling it out because I wasn’t happy with their financial aid offer. Filling it out would have put me up for consideration for an interview. Meanwhile, I was offered an interview with the Siena/AMC program, and a few weeks later, they asked me to fill out the supplemental application, even though I already had an interview day set. Basically, IDK when they will respond. They do things their own way…

1 more day- BU, don’t fail me…I’ve longed for you.

@malibubeach

After i filled out my union/albany app online, i got an interview in about 3 days. but you never know, some people on here got interviews 2-3 weeks after!

@thebombingrange…my stats are on page 30 can u please take a look at it?

@asianandproud, thanks for your reply. Son had his interview for UTSA Fame today. He thinks it went OK, but as everyone knows it’s all unpredictable.

Just wondering? any interviews

yup, i have an interview for March 5th. there should be more info on the Pitt GAPthread

Lol I would say the same things I said to you on page 30, you are very similar to me and def have a shot. Again, it is a crapshoot for all of us here…

Ok thanks :)

@sjshah i’m crying hoping that i’ll get a BU interview tomorrow. its my top choice school, and the program has been a dream for me since i was 7. i’m going to cry like crazy if i don’t get in.

@desigirl23 my stats are posted on here before. just a summary - 2330, 780 math2, 760 chem, 740 bio, 4.3 gpa, top 5% of class, lots of extracurriculars/leadership, published in research twice, volunteer at hospital, stuff like that.

@thebombingrange & @LaPrincesa sorry about not getting back to you guys, i have midterms going on & my two hardest (ap chem/ap stat) are tomorrow. uhh NJMS interview was pretty good. they first give you a tour of the school which was nice because i don’t like that its located in newark but i really liked the school after touring it. i applied through TCNJ only. it’s only one interview by faculty and it was stuff like “why do you want to be a doctor, what made you think of it, have you ever thought of alternatives” but also asked “do you know stuff that would deter people from trying to be a doctor” which i thought was an unusual question. other than that it was straightforward, just asking about extra curricular/resume and stuff. took about an hour…i think like 45 minutes. hope this helps!

@tlulla- I know how you feel. BU is an amazing school. To my knowledge, I think we still have a chance until this Friday. I think I saw a post on an old interview notification thread saying that they got it on February 1st- either way, I really hope we both get it!

@tlulla your stats are fantastic. BU should call, but nothing with them is ever set in stone, there is a chance that they will call into next week. What types of alternatives do they want? Like what would be your job I’d you didn’t become a doctor? And as far as deterents, are they talking about blood and gore things or changes in the healthcare system? Was it a doctor or someone else interviewing?

and, by the way, I really feel bad for all you taking midterms/finals- our school officially announced this year that no midterms/finals for all seniors. I love my high school!

Eh finals have their advantages and disadvantages. Most finals at my school (yeah there are the exception to the rule) have curves to them, which usually helps bring grades up. There are sad stories of people who have dropped down a letter grade but not nearly as many as those who went up one. Finals are also very useful for reviewing material taught. Stress is a problem unless you have high grades going into a final (hehe).

@thebombingrange thanks… i’ll wait till monday and then call BU to see if they really are done notifying. i had a doctor interview me & it wasn’t really alternatives it was more like “have you ever thought of being anything else” and i just mentioned how i took a law class and realized although i thought being a lawyer would be cool, i wasn’t as passionate about it. and as for deterrents i mentioned the hard work you have to put in, the hours but i wasn’t really sure what else to say. so he brought up paperwork, malpractice, and having your patients die… that was definitely the hardest question of the interview. i wasn’t sure what he was expecting the answer to be, cause it doesn’t seem like theres a right answer. i just said something along the lines of not being able to save every patient but it’d be my duty to do everything in my power to try. i was also asked about healthcare…and whether i thought universal healthcare would work in america the way it does in canada… i’m not really a politics person so i just said probably not haha.

@sjshah in my school seniors can only be exempt from finals. but i’m exempt from my semester courses haha!

@thebombingrange How was the BU interview? Was it like what tlulla is describing about NJMS? What type of questions did the faculty ask? Were they also about deterrants to go into medicine? Was the interview intense…did they try any stress related questions?

BU was very similar to what tlulla said, but it was a more relaxed interview. They ask a lot about your essays and ECs.
