*** BS/MD Interview Notification for Class of 2014***

@dreamhuge
By the way, thanks for bringing this to our attention, it is hilarious!

Apologies in advance if anyone is annoyed that I have caused a divergence from the intent of this thread. It is just that the community here has been very knowledgeable and supportive, thus I hope to pick your brains and we truly appreciate all the feedback and encouragement we received.

Again, congrats, best wishes, and “hang in here!” to receipients of good news and those still waiting…

Does anyone known when HPME is going to release decisions? Website says April 1, but I am not sure if is completely correct. Does anyone know historically when they have come out or anything like that?

@zzMD96. Congratulations for Hofstra 4+4 admission. Did you get notified by email? My son interviewed on March 10. When did your son interviewed?

Does anybody know how many people Rutgers-Newark takes for the NJMS program? Cause I heard their trying to expand the program a bit and just wanted to know my chances to get in.

I got waitlisted for HPME… Never heard of this kind of decision before.

I GOT INTO HPME

@WelsCool Congrats!!!

@WelsCool, Congrats!!! You may not be interested in Rice anymore.

@Dad2013 I’ve never visited Rice, so I wouldn’t know which I like better… and 8 years at R/B is cheaper than 7 at NU

@WelsCool congrats! I had the feeling you would make it to HPME. Did you receive the email from HPME just now?

Personally, I like Rice/Baylor more than NU HPME because of purely financial point of view. That’s why my kid didn’t apply for NU.

@zryzor I think that kind of decision is something we’ve never heard of. However, if Northwestern undergraduate admission accepted you already, your chance of getting into HPME is still very high. Keep fingers crossed. Good luck to you :)

@WelsCool
Congrats!

I got my email at 4:24 pm Central, but I was too busy crying to be able to do anything else

@nexus55
My s interviewed on 3/5 and received a phone call from the assistant dean of admissions today at around 1:00

Rejected from HPME, and waitlisted at NU Undergrad. Wow, this really sucks.

But hey, congrats @WeIsCool ! Have fun over there for the next few years, I’m sure it’ll be a blast.

Don’t feel bad @FrozenShardz, I am sure NU knows that you won’t attend NU even if they offer you the undergrad admission. The fact is you probably are a very qualified candidate who will be admitted to many great schools. It’s just a matter of not affecting NU’s percentage of admission and yield.

Wow this thread was really busy today!! Had my Albany interview today.Everything that SLCMom explained on pg 112 of this thread was extremely helpful and true. Thanks for that. The only point on which I would differ is the difficulty of the group interview. The director of the program asked people in depth questions about their research and really drove some students into corners or tough spots. I would suggest knowing how to explain your research very well. The one-on-one interview was easier. I had a few ethical questions, but most people didn’t. Also, it wasn’t pressurized at all.

@nexus55- Wow Rice/Baylor is so amazing. Congrats to your older son! And also the younger one-- these programs aren’t easy to get into.

@WeIsCool- CONGRATS!!! You’re amazing!!! I’m so happy for you :smiley: :smiley: :smiley:

@SLCMom- Congrats on Northwestern! Not an easy task, as demonstrated by so many people on here. I’m sure your daughter will get into at least one program!! She interviewed at a few, right? Good luck!

@dreamhuge- haha that’s so funny. SLCMom, thanks for clarifying that it was satirical :p

@zzzMD96- Congrats!

@FrozenShardz- I’m sorry about HPME. And dreamhuge is right about them trying to protect their yield. I think most people rejected from the program were waitlisted/rejected from regular ug, so don’t feel too bad! It’s amazing that you got to the interview stage at all!

Nice to hear from you! Thanks for the follow up on AMC. Interesting that the group discussion got tougher. My daughter didn’t have the same experience for her day (@Midhelper do you remember anything mentioned by your child?). What was the breakdown and numbers for your group, and did Maria provide any more details about their plan going forward?

Thanks for the good wishes, will keep fingers crossed and hope for the best!
