@datkid1, if your application was completed before October 15, no news is probably BAD news at this stage. But if you did not complete your application until after October 15 but before November 1, you will not hear until the end of this month. Good luck.

Does anyone know when Miami’s HPME interview date is?

Oh okay I submitted mine after October 15th thanks! :)

IMGDAD,

I think you are a bit premature with your BAD news for those of us that did not get call or email from EMSAP. If we were out of the running, we would have received an email at the very least so I think decisions are still being made and we should all hear from UAB early this week. Especially since Davidxavi also has not received any communications with his ridiculously high stats. Keep hope alive.

@rlpak14, I am sorry if I have been discouraging. My son is in the same boat. From everything I have read about the UAB EMSAP, it is being operated in a very efficient and hand-on manner by Dr Pence. If he calls all the successful applicants up personally, one the same day, to congratulate them, I would have expected that he does the same for those invited for interview. Hope you are correct and I am wrong, unless those not informed yet are in fact alternates so that if anyone rejects the invitation to interview, the alternates will be informed then. We will see.

IMGDAD,

My take is no news means we have not been eliminated from getting an interview and our fates will be made within the next few days. Also, there are up to 30 who are to be interviewed, that’s a lot of phone calls by one person if Dr. Pence is the only one making calls. We all still have a chance.

@rlpak14, keep me posted. I will let you know about my son when he hears. He has sent an email to his admission officer.

I have applied to a few BD/MD and BS/DO programs. I already got an admission to the NYIT’s 7 year BS/DO program, though I’m not really sure about how well this program prepares me for the MCAT. Has anyone else got an admission to this program? How “good” is that program?

@hogwards, the NYIT BS/DO program is a very established program. NYCOM is one of the most established DO schools in this country. Congrats! We looked into it for my son but decided against it because we did not want my son to be too close to NYC. Like any programs, BS/MD or BS/DO, it has mixed reviews. My take is that those who succeed and do well love it and those who fail hate it (naturally!). Which other programs have you applied to?

One thing I suggest to people - never send a note requesting status and that you have heard others have heard - you are liable to get a reject as a response.

I am certain this happens at NU HPME.

thanks for your input. I’ve applied to BS/MD at U.Pitt, Duquesne, Drexel, NOVA( BS/DO). how is the Duquesne/ Temple program?

@hogwards, do not know anything about the Duquesne/Temple program. The UPitt program is supposed to be very good but requires to maintain a very high GPA. The Nova BS/DO program is supposed to be another very good one, if you do not mind Florida. I have heard of good reports with students not uncommonly getting >>30 for MCAT.

I see that people are concluding that if you did not get an interview by now it is bad news. Interview notifications go out till Feb 15. So if you did not hear back, it means that they have not yet reviewed your application. Dont loose hope.

@texaspg I agree that is not a good idea to push AO for a response but how are you sure about NU doing that? Is it just a consequence of the large number of applicants?

Did anyone receive an e-mail from Union/AMC last Friday so the application is due on 1/3/2014? But the application didn’t work? And when I called in the counselor said the date is extended to 1/7/2014 (Tuesday). But now the application is not working again…
is anyone else having this problem?

I know people who received a rejection on the same day when they asked while more people were called in at later dates for an interview.

@thanthan - yup same problem. I’m sure they will fix it tomorrow morning.

Are all these interview notifications via phone? I’m still away on vacation. Do the schools also notify via email?

“One thing I suggest to people - never send a note requesting status and that you have heard others have heard - you are liable to get a reject as a response.”

I must admit that if that really happens, i.e. rejection irrespective of the quality of the applications, it would reflect on the unprofessionalism of the AO, with a lack of appreciation that he/she is dealing with a group of enthusiastic and eager teens. Do you really wants to go to such a college???

It is the medical side of the process. They don’t really care whether you want to go or not but use such inquiries to signify something. All I am saying is it is not worth asking if that works as a blackmark against your app for whatever reason.

They treat you as one more app they need to cull and looking for reasons to eliminate people anyway.
