*** BS/MD Interview Notification for Class of 2014***

Son has interview for union/ amc and Siena /amc.

Are they separate interviews - does he need to interview twice with AMC?

@Bigbigjon
Good luck to your S!

For those who had issues with comcast emails, my son received notification from Drexel medical school this morning to pay the fee. He did not get any notification from undergrad school (we have comcast). I benefited so much from this forum, thought its time to provide a data point. And good luck to all the kids and parents out here, I truly hope all the kids here get into one of the programs.

Two separate interviews. Siena is at Siena with rep from AMC. Union/Amc is at AMC

S got e-mail for phone interview with Rutgers/NJMS, I did not know they do phone interview, I guess this is just another screen barrier.

@dadcolarado thank you. D hasn’t received any email from Drexel to pay the fee. Hope we are not missing it due to comcast email.
On a good note, she did get a call from BU for interview.

Yeah Rutgers interviews by phone and then they send you to NJMS. If you are already at NJMS with another school like NJIT then you just have to nail the NJMS interview in order to have a nice choice of undergrads that feed into the med school.

is union/amc finished sending out interview notifications?

@redrock - prob not. People were getting notified as late as March in previous years

Thanks TheBombingRange, I see. Rutgers is the only NJMS affiliate he applied. Fingers crossed.

D got the Drexel email to pay the fee. Seems like Comcast fixed the issue with their email blocking.

@desi - thanks - yup we got email this morning to pay drexel fee too. >600 people paying $150 - whew…nice money. Good luck to all!

Looks like some good news has come out last few days - congrats!!!

Anyone receive an interview notification from Northwestern?

Yeah congrats to everyone! All exciting news :)

@mcat9442- I haven’t yet, but supposedly one person has friends who already had their interview. Hopefully the rest of us will find out soon! Good luck!

Too early for northwestern interviews. The deadline was 1/1 but the school was closed due to weather till 1/7. Are you sure the person who interviewed did so for HPME or just alumni interview for undergraduate admission?

@IMGDAD, when you say northeast, do you mean PA? Wondering if it is worth trying usciences/TCMC bs md program since we are from California.

@coquifrog- It’s post #423 on pg 29 of this thread. I have no idea whether it’s true, but that’s what serenica said!

@bamd2014, yes, it is worth applying if you do not mind getting your md education in primarily a community medical school and do not mind that the only guarantee U of the Sciences gives you is a guaranteed interview with the medical school and NOT a guaranteed acceptance. The former point, in my book, means that you will just have to work harder and accomplish more if you want to get into some of the more competitive residency programs. I am not that worried about the latter point. I feel that no school (except the UMKC program in which you go into medical school right away) guarantees admission to med school, since certain GPA+/- MCAT requirements have to be fulfilled. If you get the competitive GPA and MCAT scores, TCMC should not reject you.

@IMGDAD thanks. Hopefully they will consider the fact we would have already spent 4 years in usciences, PA anyways? If a UG outside of PA applies to TCMC they may look at him/her as a non PA student? BTW is usciences ok since it is unranked. Looks like a trade school to me. Hopefully we can apply out to other med school with a good GPA, MCAT? On a different subject: Any statistics on Uconn BA MD Spim accepted students from OOS? Same for Stonybrook. Sorry if these questions are not relevant in this forum. Thanks.
