@BiomedFather, sorry about your son’s rejection from Union/AMC. Did he apply to Siena and RPI? Good luck.

Wow. Sorry about all the rejections today. It’s really tough to take considering how qualified we all are, but as IMGDAD and others have been saying, we only need one school, and even if that doesn’t happen, there’s always the 4+4 route. We’ll all become doctors regardless.

@MedicalBoy- thanks! Great meeting you :)

JUST GOT HOME. So for future BU interviewees, I’m posting a little about my experience:
There are two interviews; one with a professor from the College of Arts and Sciences and one with a doctor affiliated with the medical school. The interviews are open file, so interviewers have all your info before seeing you. That isn’t to say that your interviewer will know everything about you. My med school interviewer actually didn’t spend much time reading about me so he knew very little. My college of arts and sciences interviewer, on the other hand, did know quite a bit but he asked me to expand on a lot of my ECs. Both were conversational and very chill, super low stress. BU does a good job of taking out the high level of nervousness related with the interviews. They don’t have any questions that they have to ask. My ug interviewer actually asked me some stuff about my medical research, obama care, and the future of medicine, but my med interviewer did nothing of the sort. But every single student has a different interviewer so my experience doesn’t speak to much except that you shouldn’t think that the interviews will be extremely intense. They just wanna make sure that you can make eye contact, interact well with others, and that you can speak well about your experiences and why you want to be a doctor. My med school interview questions were VERY open ended (tell me about yourself, why should we accept you, why Boston) so I would suggest writing down a few points you want to mention about yourself and read them over right before the interviews so you know what you want to say. Also know why you want to go to BU and the med school. They emphasized that students have to be a good fit in both my interviews. The student lunch was awesome- there were so many food options and they split us up into groups of about 5 interviewees per SMED student. Also wear comfy shoes (but business-y!) because you have to walk to your professor’s office- mine was several blocks away. They give you a sheet with directions but no guide, so be prepared to walk in the cold! GOOD LUCK EVERYONE!!!

Wow… leaving early early tomorrow morning to drive to Philadelphia for Drexel/Drexel interview. I hear there’s an essay, so we’ll see how it goes lol.

Oh also this year they’re interviewing 90 people. They have no set # on who they accept- it’s just how many ever do well on the interviews. So if you’re interviewing, just go in there and rock it. That said, they aim for about 40 acceptances and 20 matriculants.

@IMGDAD, my son only got the supplement from Union. Was not forwarded by Siena and RPI. He applied to all 3 programs. Did your son hear from Muhlenberg via email? My S has not heard anything from Muhlenberg. He did interview in December.

Haha couldn’t have said it better myself. I didn’t expand on my experience because I was going to do it later but you pretty much summed it up. My undergrad interview was actually much harder than my medical school interview. I had no questions on medical ethics but I guess I got lucky. My med school interview was pretty much a conversation about my experiences and various questions I had. Any advice I can give is to relax. If you made it to the interview stage, you are already academically qualified (which they emphasized several times) and they just want to know you. Good luck!

@BiomedFather, my son interviewed with Muhlenberg in December and he contacted Muhlenberg yesterday because he had not heard anything. So, he was informed only when he contacted them. You might want to ask you son to contact the admissions counselor.

Yeah, @MedicalBoy, you brought up a good point. Half of my medical school interview was spent on my questions about the program. They want to make sure you’re as interested in them as they are in you. So it’s not a bad thing to have questions in mind about the program.

starlight27- Best of luck for Drexel/Drexel interview. Let us know how it went.

@starlight27

Thanks for such detailed information on your BU interview. Even though our son did not complete his application to BU, we appreciate your candor.

Aw thanks guys! @shanny101 and @upstream, good luck throughout this (extensive) process!

You guys are all so nice ^.^

Btw, if any of you stumble upon good HPME or Rice-Baylor interview links pls post…this is my go-to thread for BA/MD programs.

BU sends snail mail rejection too for not shortlisted for interview?

@starlight27
Thank you for the BU info and good luck on Drexel tomorrow!

Anyone has any idea if BU is done inviting for interviews?

Also, if anyone has info on Miami interview would appreciate it. Thanks.

anyone know when hpme and wash u’s university scholars program comes out?

How long does it take once you submit your Albany supplement for the RPI/Albany program to find out about an interview? I submitted mine last Thursday but I haven’t heard from them yet. Also how does Northwestern HPME go about letting people know about interviews? If you don’t get an interview when do they let you know about that?

Also did anyone get their letter from NEOMED for regular decision application?

@sadfeet From previous posts by people Albany seems to respond anywhere from 7 - 14 days for RPI and longer for Union apps

@certaindr BU,unlike other programs, does not send rejection letters until late March when they put up the acceptances. So you can assume if you didn’t get an interview that you didn’t get in, best of luck!!!

@SLCmom Last year, they were done inviting for interviews mid-February. Earlier in this thread, a current BU SMED student said the last interview days are at the end of february (they know because they take the people who get interviewed for lunch). They notify you of your interview about 4-5 weeks in advance so you have time to plan the trip. So, there is still hope to get a call!!! They should be done calling probably around mid-February. Good luck!!!

Thanks!
