*** BS/MD Interview Notification for Class of 2014***

Just got called for HPME interview :D

@texaspg- thanks for the info. It’s much appreciated.

@bodylansmith123- CONGRATS!! How much research/experience hours do you have? Any comments on what recent posters have said about being invited to interview? Thanks!

Does HPME call or email about interview notifications?

Apparently they email rejections and call for interviews.

@bobdylansmith123
Congrats on NW HPME! Nice to hear at least one poster made it.

Also congrats to all the posters with the latest batch of invitations to interview. It is great to hear the good news!

From RPI today: Notifications will be going out till the end of February, maybe even till March, from Albany directly. They are doing it in waves, in that they are sending in the applications every two weeks.

Thanks SLCMom I am sure there are others waiting in the side lines…keep your heads up everyone it’s not too late yet.

No call, I was sent an email about it.
I have a great deal of shadowing experience (3 different physicians) and some research experience with a project I began last summer at a local university (was not in a lab, so not sure how many hours…around 120?). Also involved with JCL

If stats help: SAT (2390) and SAT II (800 Math II and Chem)

wow

@bobdylansmith123 - congrats. What state are you from?

I’m from down south

But honestly, I’m really humbled and surprised to have gotten the interview, after hearing about how many more qualified applicants (i.e. ones who have done more shadowing, research, etc.) have been denied.

The essays probably play a big role, though mine certainly weren’t perfect.

out of curiosity, did anyone here apply for the temple/temple program? im debating whether or not to go interview-- seeing as the north philadelphia area where temple university is located isn’t the safest of areas… thoughts anyone?

@bobdylansmith- Awesome stats, congrats  Thanks for the info! Haha I thought by “called for an interview” you meant that you were notified by phone. Email it is then, sorry for the misinformation, @sadfeet.

Medical schools also like people with interest in areas like classics. Apparently they make good doctors.

what about foreign languages

@shadeow522, By Temple/Temple program, I guess you mean Temple’s Health Scholars Program. From their web page description, it appears that it only guarantees an interview with the Temple Med School, if the GPA and MCAT requirements are met. Is that right? Because of the lack of “guaranteed” admission, my S did not apply to this program; otherwise he would have applied. I understand that crime is not a problem inside the campus.

thanks everyone!

@AspiringStudent, I think any foreign language that one has devoted a decent amount of time and effort to will at least somewhat pique the interest of med schools

AH im so nervous…

Got an email from St. Bon/GW rejected for second interview at GW

Son rejected after SBU/GW interview.
