BS/MS In 5 years

Hello, a senior to be looking for some advice.

Applying to colleges soon and weighing my options.

Anyone ever tried the so called BS/MS program? Sounds like an excellent idea on paper but wonder if anyone ever gone thru it and recommend it.

I am apply for need base grant and expecting a boat load of it, would it count toward undergrad courses only or all of it?

Any input would be appreciated, thanks

Whether or not your need-based grant would apply to only the undergrad classes or two both will depend on both the grant and on the university you get the BS/MS at. If it’s an outside grant, most grants are pretty clear about what they will cover and what they won’t, and for how long you can receive the grant. Check out the website or call/email the granting agency. If these are internal grants from the university, then that depends. Some universities class BS/MS students as undergraduates for all 5 years (even when they are taking mostly/only master’s classes), and you’re still eligible for all the same grants and loans you’d get as an undergrad. Others don’t.

I think a BS/MS program’s worth really depends on the master’s degree itself and what field it’s in, as well as what school you’re getting it from.
