I just went through my first interview today, it lasted 31:43, I got to talk through the interview using my prepared responses. There was an odd part. The interviewer asked what other schools I’m applying to and what my top choices were. Is that common? Also, how should I prepare for the remaining interviews?
If the school that you are interviewing with is your top choice, go ahead and say it’s your top choice. If it’s not your top choice, it’s fine to deflect and say you’re still reviewing other schools, but that you are impressed by XYZ at that school.
I don’t mind the question since I feel like my kid’s schools as a group make sense and are not just top 15 schools list. I do notice the schools always ask the kid but never the parent!
My only concern is that we are applying to a lot of boarding schools simply because admissions was tough last year.
It is also ok to say that you are visiting campuses now and won’t have a final list until you’ve seen them all.
You can name a few that you are visiting if you want.
