has anyone heard from Duke about BSAI yet? will the letters be sent out by email or through snail mail? also, do any scholarship decisions come out with the BSAI invitation?
What’s BSAI?
BSAI is the black student alliance invitational weekend. a selected number of prospective black students are invited to fly in and visit duke for a weekend in March. invites are supposed to come out within the first week of March
@unidreamer23 I am also curious about this. I am a Reggie Howard Scholarship Finalist and as a part of the selection process, you’re required to complete some extra essays. One of the questions is whether or not I intend to go to BSAI, but I thought it was invite only? Finalists are invited to Duke from the 27th of march to the 30th of march, so is the weekend coinciding? I don’t even know what to answer!
@carey46 Congratulations! I was also selected as a Reggie Howard Scholarship Finalist, so I emailed the lady who’s in charge and she said BSAI overlaps with the Scholarship Finalist Weekend and that Reggie finalists do Reggie activities Wednesday-Friday and then BSAI activities. Also, we have the opportunity to go to the BSAI kick-off dinner Thursday as well. So it seems as though once we get out interviews and scholarship stuff out of the way, we mix and mingle with the rest of the BSAI population.
@unidreamer23 did your portal change? Mine hasn’t. Congratulations to you too, and I guess I’ll be seeing you at Duke at the end of this month!!!
Also did the lady tell you how long we will have to wait for results?
@carey46 no she didn’t. also, quick question for the part on the Reggie essays stuff where it says list two courses you are looking forward to taking, do they want us to look up actual courses at Duke and pick two?
I actually don’t know! I’m sure this is all going to take me a while lmao, and I don’t know word limits
So i emailed her and she said to just look in the Duke course catalog. And I think each box has built-in word limits, dont make the mistake I did and type out entire essays only to realize they don’t fit.
So…has anyone received the BSAI 2019 invite email yet? Last year, they came out around March 1st, in 2017, they came out around March 8th, and in 2015, they came out around March 11th. Anxious!
Looks like D19 just got an invite to BSAI.
hey @unidreamer23 I just got the email too, and it says to register for BSAI but then it won’t let me… idk if I should since we are already registered for the finalist’s weekend?
My son just got BSAI invite…does that mean acceptance?
@ufalumn1997 my understanding is yes, means acceptance. And if you look at the wording it seems pretty clear — “f you are unable to attend BSAI, or would rather attend another admitted student event, you are welcome to do so. Other upcoming events in April include Blue Devil Days, Latinx Student Recruitment Weekend, Native American Student Alliance Invitational Dinner, and this year’s inaugural LGBTQAI+ Invitational. More information, including how to register for Blue Devil Days, will be included in the acceptance packets we send to admitted students.”
Anyone else receive the BSAI invite email after March 11th?
@Illuminate27 My son got the invite on March 11, but won’t be able to attend. I’d imagine there will be some more invites after some of the people say they can’t go. They didn’t have an option on the link to say no that I saw…I really wish my son could go, but we have a conflict.
Thanks, @ufalumn1997
