Does anyone know when the BSAI weekend notifications come out in the mail? Also, does anyone know a rough estimate of the number of people invited? Thanks

I was just talking about this to someone on the recent Likely Letter thread. And from observation of previous threads on CC, I would say they come in early March. I don’t know how many get invited but I hear usually 200-250 usually attend and of course there are always students who decide not to go so maybe 300 were actually invited? : http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/duke-university/471280-how-many-students-get-bsai.html

In terms of setting a date of when the invites will be released this year shows complications because non-minority students used to get their likely letters in late February and early March, but it is obvious now that this is not the case, so who knows…It might come earlier.

Thanks for your help!

I wonder if they are not doing it this year? I can’t find anything.

From March 2011

They’re doing it. I got an invite by email this past Tuesday.

I just got the email today! Do you know if it is basically an acceptance?

The snail mail usually says something to that effect, and official admissions letters usually come while you are there.

This was my daughters year

@soaroneagles

If you look in the “Questions & Answers About BSAI” section of the link that was included in your email it says this:

“Q: Does this mean I’ve been admitted to Duke?
A: Naturally, inviting you to campus means that we think you’re a very strong candidate for admission…”

So as long as we don’t rob a bank or sleep through the rest of our senior year, we’re in. Congratulations by the way!

@Kgoodwin18 Awesome! Congratulations to you too!

You guys should definitely go! I went to mine last year, even though I was ED and I had the best time! And also don’t let the cost of a plane ticket keep you from going, just talk to Sandra Lipscomb and she’ll try to work something out for you! I couldn’t afford a plane ticket to go to mine and Duke bought my ticket for me. So it definitely doesn’t hurt to ask.

just got my email for this as well. anyone have any info on what goes on during this weekend?

The itinerary should be linked in the email.

i just got an email!! i’m def going. lol i havnt traveled by myself , i’ll be coming from CT

Does it reflect negatively if I choose not to go to BSAI and go to Blue Devil Days instaed? I honestly have too many things that thurs, fri, sat, sun

@GeeFizz

I don’t think it will. You’d still be expressing interest by saying you’re going to Blue Devil days instead. Just say thank you for the invite but you have a prior engagement that weekend. I’m sure they’d understand.

So I haven’t gotten one oh well…

This is interesting. Check out the comments too.
