hey, i was wondering what you guys thought my chances were to get into BU

At first i thought the only way i would be able to get in was through General Studies (CGS) and my plan was to transfer to SMG after the two years. Now i don’t If i should try to apply directly to SMG or maybe even apply to CAS instead of CGS becasue i heard SMG is harder to get into than CAS.

-anyway, what do you think my chances are for CGS, CAS, and SMG???

THANKS!

SMG is not harder to get into than CAS.

I aslo wanted to add that my GPA has a huge increase each year (9th3.18, 10th 3.43, 11th, 3.57)

lostandfound-SMG accepts less students so it must be more selective, no?

No less people apply to SMG. That's why it's smaller. The admissions office is very strict about standards like that. They DO NOT use different standards for the regular schools. This is to avoid a situation where people apply to a school that is 'easier' and transfer to another school, which would be unfair to those that originally applied to that school. There is no application process for transfers within BU schools (excepting special programs like CFA or SMED) so it makes sense that they all MUST have the same admission standards.

You have a low GPA, and even the increases have been low. However, you have a great ACT - 93% or something? You also have good community service and extra currics. If you write good essays, I think you have a good chance.

CAS may be tuff for you to get into, but its not an extreme reach...

....bump meeee

are you just waiting for someone to say "good shot!"? multiple people have already told you what they think...

zralos, I think you have a good shot, if you look at the collegeboard rankings for each gpa, you fall into a pretty good shot area. Yet I would advice you to do as much as you can possibly do to make your chances even better. Make sure you have a good UNIQUE essay, do not write about the rivalry between BC and BU or something like that. Write something that will be interesting to read. That in many cases could be the deciding factor between you and one other student. Make sure you do everything to the best of your ability, if anything ask you AP english teachers to help you with this process. Good Luck.
