Yes, @fer79K, you will move in on Wednesday. The Wednesday portion of the orientation is optional and has a $35 fee associated with it. I had my son participate in that portion because we were going to be there and I wanted him to get as much out of it as he could. He did some ice breakers and met some kids but then when they were broken up into groups on Thursday, he didn’t have the opportunity to see them again. I don’t know if they are offering that on Wednesday since they need to get everyone assigned to their dorm rooms. At orientation, there were about 600 students and I imagine it will be more or less than same at the last orientation. They are very efficient and they believe you can move into your dorm room even on move-in weekend. It will be okay. They run a very organized orientation.
I went to session 1 of orientation and honestly don’t worry about missing the Wednesday stuff. It was just awkward ice breakers and only worth the $35 if you eat a lot of the rice krispee treats lol. The city excursion on Wednesday night was fun, but nothing to worry about if you miss it. Thursday and Friday are the important things (and it gets more fun because you meet kids with the same major).
@paveyourpath @uni1234 THANKS SO MUCH!
When does housing come out?
@utOOSman201 it starts on july 1st but it comes out in waves
@utOOSman201 As pointed out above, housing information starts being sent out on July 1 and is sent out in waves. They said it will be sent out until August. The majority of students will know in July.
I wanna know now tho haha
Housing information has started to come out. My son received an email.
I got my housing and I’m in the West Tower of Towers. How do I find out who my roommate is?
@utOOSman201 you have to open the application like you’re going to fill it out again, but your roommate should be listed on the bottom of the first page
@utOOSman201 My son is in a single room so no roommate was listed but based on the instructions you should see the person listed on the page. Lower half of the page there was a section that seemed to indicate that is where one would find their roommate. If no one is listed, maybe they have not assigned your roommate yet? Not quite sure how it works with finding out roommate info.
My son received roommate assignments but we can’t figure out how to reach out to them. Internet sleuthing did not work. Does anyone know how to contact one’s assigned roommate?
The thing to do is search the BU Student Directory. The directory includes the names/email of incoming freshmen.
Thank you!!! I didn’t realize the directory was so up-to-date! This is so helpful!!!
@MomofNEA Plus, I believe the housing portal has a messaging feature as well.
Thank you, samc24. That was what I expected based on my older son’s experience, but we could not find it when viewing the page on my son’s phone. It is possible we missed it, however, since he had already decided it wasn’t there by the time he asked me :-).
Have CAS students already registered for classes? (before orientation)
I don’t believe CAS students who have not attended orientation have registered for classes yet. You may want to review course registration to have an idea of what you would like to register for.
My D is a CAS student she has not attended orientation yet.She is not able to register for classes. To register on line you need to have a code that you are given from your adviser.
Just received an email regarding registration!
