Hey guys, I’d really appreciate some help on deciding whether this school is right for me. So I really do like the campus and diversity of the school, but how is its English department? I went to the college visit and they were mainly discussing engineering, communications, and what felt like pretty much every major except for English even though I’ve heard earlier that it was a good English school. Does this only apply for its graduate program or does it also apply for undergrad?
I mean I don’t think you can go wrong with majoring in english anywhere haha
English major at BU here. English department is good–especially if you are into small, discussion-based classes as all classes in the English major here are like that. I’m a first semester freshman now and currently taking a class from a professor who has been the chair of the jury of the Pulitzer Prize for poetry. Also, BU has a fantastic creative writing program which tends to bring a lot of writers to BU for readings/etc—my roommate is in a creative writing seminar and Robert Pinsky (former Poet Laureate) is coming to speak to her class for 2 hours next week.
Wow, that’s great to hear; thanks!
