hey just wondering how much financial aid BU gives…
I just did my Fafsa…and my Expected Family Contribution was 0 dollars…single parent 3 kids in college same time…income a lil less than 20,000… anyhow… im a little confused on what all of this means and if i will have any chance to pay for school?.. plz help if anyone has any feedback…
thanks

BU is extremely generous with grants. They have a lot of money and they give a lot of it out. The only people I know that pay full price are the rich kids in CGS.

can someone give a coupa examples of some of what BU gives in money..

i thought they were stingy :(

My impression is that BU gives money to poor kids who they have reason to want. They say up front, after all, that the grants are determined in part by merit.
My roommate's family makes less money than mine, (though I'm from a low-income family) yet I get about twice the fin. aid that he does. BU does not meet his full need, whereas they exceed mine. (He's in CAS, I'm in CFA)
The only obvious reason is that my SAT score is 210 points higher than his, and my high school GPA about half a point higher.

okay........i have 670 v , 680 math, 630 writing
3.85 uw...... 28/822 rank.... zero fafsa...... what kinda money could i possibly get from them...anyone know?

i got no fafsa money but i did get the deans scholarship...10,000 per year 31 ACT, 770 Math, 620 verbal and 600 Writing

With zero fafsa, you'll have to hope for the Dean's Scholarship, for which you have (I think) a chance, but shouldn't count on.
You should not expect tons of merit money, but you might well get some.

If it helps, I just got in and I'm getting the $18500 university grant, $2000 in another grant from BU, and then $5000 in loans, half from BU and half from FAFSA, and finally a $2k work study again from FAFSA. My SATs were 700 verbal, 680 math, and 630 writting, and my high school GPA is about 3.45 overall, though this year it is around 3.65. My parents are divorced and making a big fight out of paying for college, but their combined salaries are around $80,000. BU says they believe strongly in merit based awards and emphasis that a lot, and they do give a lot more due to merit than other school do, but it's still only about 20% of their total financial aid funds that goes to kids who have no need. Considering that your SATs are around mine, your GPA is higher, and it seems that your need is far greater I don't see how BU couldn't give a really good financial aid plan.

can't you walk into a bank and get a student loan?

wow geez....i hope i can get that kinda money

Me too!

My EFC is like 33000, but we can't afford nearly that much. I dont' see how they got that number at all.
