My son has not yet received his final confirmation for his SUNY Purchase audition. The date he requested is Jan 24, which is coming up soon.

I tried to contact Purchase by phone and e-mail yesterday. Admissions wouldn't address the matter and attempts to reach the conservatory resulted only in voice mail messages and an "I am presently out of the office. I will respond to your emails when I return" e-mail.

Today we finally received my son's final audition confirmation from BU via e-mail. Is it common for some of the schools to be this late?

(One reason it seems odd is that he applied way back in October...)

Most likely the Purchase admissions office is closed for the semester break. My son is in the acting program and he returns to school on the 19th. I would imagine that someone will be back in admissions office within the week. If you do reach the conservatory office, they will most likely refer you back to admissions. Keep trying to get a live voice. We have found from experience that our messages to admissions rarely were returned. We did find the office was very overwhelmed with the amount of applicants and the person that handles the Acting applicants was very helpful once we spoke with her. Best of luck to your son for auditions.

Thanks, ProudDadFL. Admissions is open. I talked to someone in Admissions, but they said they have nothing to do with auditions and we have to talk to the conservatory. I'll keep trying to call the conservatory. It seems unlikely that all of the conservatory staff will be absent right up until the 19th, don't you think? I would imagine that there should be somebody in the office working on the confirmation e-mails, at the very least.

My son received an e-mail reply from the Purchase conservatory this a.m. They said they sent the confirmation on 10/31. We have been watching my son's e-mail very, very carefully for months and never saw it. Strange. But they re-sent it, so we have it now!
