I got into the business schools for both colleges and I can’t decide.

BU is ranked 18th in the nation whereas Northeastern is ranked 27th. But Northeastern has the co-op program and really good job placement. I like both of the campuses, but I thought BU had a better student atmosphere (people were more social). Also, I feel like BU has a more respected reputation than Northeastern- not that that matters too much.

Hi
I’m in a similar position and i’m an international student so for me employment within the US would be the single most important factor!
Any advise would be greatly appreciated :)

Although I’m a student in CAS, I have my share of SMG friends.

Two points…

Do you want to study abroad? If so, BU will make studying abroad and even potentially interning while you live abroad incredibly easy. BU hosts programs in countless cities (see bu.edu/abroad) which means all credits and financial aid easily transfers over. Plus, all of the courses you take abroad will align perfectly with what you need. You don’t have to worry about working any of that out on your own. It’s super popular and a terrific program here at BU.

Do you want a team driven environment? As you’ve probably heard, SMG’s most commonly known for their Cross Functional Core that combines four courses into one overarching project that involves developing a business plan with a group of students. Most SMG kids take this during their junior fall. You will get experience that simulates the environment of team-driven work force life. You get to present your final business model to potential employers too who could ask you to intern or work for them.

You’ll still be able to get internship experience and all as long as you’re proactive and do well in school.

Other than that, I obviously like BU as a whole better than Northeastern…but that’s also completely biased because I go here and have had a terrific experience.

Adding to Lauren’s point, if you’re worried about the job situation, many of the seniors I have heard of in SMG already have jobs lined up for when they graduate. Although I’m not in SMG either, I’ve heard the career center works really hard to help you!

NEU is a good school, but it depends on the atmosphere you want and if you are interested in a five year program. Personally, I think SMG is a better environment from what I’ve heard, but it all depends on what exactly you’re looking for.

Also, BU has better food (if that’s important to you, haha!)
