BU Summer Challenge

Has anyone here ever attended this program? I was considering BC's summer experience, but this one looks interesting.

I went last year. It was a HORRIBLE experience. Till this day, I do not keep in touch with anyone. Most of the kids there smoked and did drugs. They pretty much let everyone in. The classes were a joke and the teachers were uninspired. The program is expensive. You are better off doing something else.

Plus all the Honors kids make fun of the challenge kids =P

D2 (jr this year) had a wonderful experience in the Challenge program last summer. D1 (sr.) did the Honors program which was perfect for her (I discuss this more in the thread about the Honors program.)

D2 made friends with a great group of kids and had so much fun. They definitely were not into drugs, etc., although she said some of the European and NYC kids smoked (but that wasn't who she hung out with).

Her Creative Writing professor was excellent and she really enjoyed all her classes. I attended the final presentations on the last day (something I strongly encourage parents to do for the Challenge program) and was very impressed by all the students learned in such a short time.

Challenge is good for kids who don't want to be away at one program all summer and want to get a better idea about what life is like at BU and in Boston. Honors is best for rising seniors ready to tackle college level courses and wanting a taste of what college life may be like.

I highly recommend both programs.

Thanks for the input...I eventually decided on a Landmark Volunteers program instead of a college program. It seemed like a better use of time-I can actually make a difference this way.
