Average BU Transfer: 3.5 GPA/1270 SAT/ Accepted 653/1986

I was waitlisted as a freshmen, not sure if that'll help. I'm applying to CAS probably as an English major, maybe Georgraphy. I will probably major in English and minor in the other, but I'm not sure if applying to a popular major is going to hurt me.

My 1st semester GPA is going to be around 3.0, haven't got all grades back. Could be .1 or .2 higher, but kind of doubtful. I think the GPA is going to kill me, but I do plan on sending midyear reports and I think that I can send spring and appeal grades if need be. I was dumb and took chem/calc for science majors when I'm an English major, so definitely was not prepared. Also applying to Northeastern, but I'm not too worried about that.

Thoughts?

Wow I can't believe you were waitlisted as a freshman!

Your GPA may be a bit too low but it's definitely worth a shot. BU's transfer admissions really aren't that competitive, as I know several people that got in with similar GPAs from 4 year unis and considerably lower SATs.

I can't believe I was waitlisted either. If I thought there was even a 1% chance they'd reject me, I would have picked a better safety.

I've heard of several people get in with 3.2's (I believe the CAS average is 3.3), but I could end up with a 3.0 which could kill me unless I appeal and send spring grades.

Any other opinions?

44 views!! Someone has to have some idea--good or bad. I'm thinking borderline with a rejected slant.

no idea about transfer rates.

but i visited my friend at BU (business major) and it's pretty chillllllll there. the environment's hella colleged out. everywhere you go, there's a college student around (probably cause it issss boston..). but yeah, it's a lot different from where i'm from.

skinny fists where did you get that average tranasfer info for BU? im considering transfering to BU as well.

I emailed the admissions office, but STAY AWAY! I'm sure you're better qualified. Last year, they were still taking applications at the end of June (deadline is April 1st), so I'm under the impression that the school is so big, that they take every qualified person or else they won't fill in all the holes.
