-Internship in schools

For BU, my dad, mom, and uncle went there and I am good friends with the son of an admissions officer. This is a big reach for me, but I am hoping my connections help.

For UMass Amherst, I think it's a good fit, maybe a little above me.

And for Northeastern I have no idea. I have heard mixed reports about them, and people say it is easy and some say it's hard to get into.

I have some other schools but those are the main ones. Am I shooting too high, too low, just right? Are my assessments on the three schools somewhat correct?

thanks

Kyle

In all honesty, I think you have a good chance of getting into all those schools. Legacies aren’t that important for non-Ivys, but I guess it’s always nice to have.

UMass is a pretty good fit I’d say, but I think you’d be more suited for BU.

According to CollegeBoard, the middle 50% of first-year students at BU scored between a 25 and 30; you’re right in the middle. I don’t know how recent this is, but again from the CollegeBoard:

BU:

26% had h.s. GPA of 3.75 and higher
30% had h.s. GPA between 3.5 and 3.74
20% had h.s. GPA between 3.25 and 3.49(where you fall)
20% had h.s. GPA between 3.0 and 3.24
4% had h.s. GPA between 2.5 and 2.99

I think you have a pretty decent shot there. I heard it isn’t that hard to get in there (I’m from MA too). Northeastern is similar, but I think it’s harder than BU to get into (it used to be wicked easy). Again, according to CollegeBoard, BU has a 60% admit rate while Northeastern has a 35% admit rate.

You should have a good shot at all these schools. Good luck.

Thanks for your time! Seriously :)

I am really interested in schools like BU because of the large research opportunities they have. I am very biased towards them because my dad worked there awhile and I have been around the area for a long time.

A school like BC, somewhere I would have a lot of trouble getting into, also interests me. I thought BC was a crazy far reach, but I will probably end up applying there as a reach if I pull off a 1300+ on my SAT(M/CR).
