BU, UMass, RPI, Uconn, or Fordham (Advice Please)

Hey everybody,

I have the dilemma in choosing between those schools for Engineering as my major. I am not 100% on any specific field but I am leaning towards Chemical, Mechanical, or Electrical and or BME... (Yes very broad). However at the same time I could possibly see myself switching to Business should engineering not suit my expectations, so I definitely want to keep that in mind when making my decision.

BU, RPI, and Fordham will cost about 50k a year, Umass about 32-35ish, Uconn around 20-25.

Money may or may not come into play in later years, but for now I can afford to go to the more expensive private schools however I want to take it into account.

Please help me decide!

I know that BU and RPI are good schools for engineering.
Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (#26)
Boston University (#42)
University of Massachusetts - Amherst (#52)
University of Connecticut (#78)

Fordham isn’t even in the top 100. If you can afford it, I would strongly consider going to BU or RPI. In particular, BU’s BME undergrad program is 10th in the nation.
And YES, rankings are important. I’m not just throwing these numbers out there for no reason. If you go to a high-ranked school for your major, you’ll have more opportunities in terms of jobs and internships and such.

Also FYI, undergrad business rankings:
