BU vs. Emerson College

Which school has a better journalism (for specifics, print journalism) program?

Which school has a better film production program?

Is it possible to double major in these programs for both colleges?

I've looked around for this myself but am having a hard time getting the details, and I'm under a time crunch as the fin aid deadline is soon.

bump
(more detailed)

Urgent - Having a hard time deciding between these two.

Which college is better for communications (namely, print journalism)?

Which college is better for film production?

Boston University:
I'm planning on double majoring in journalism and film production in college. I've heard, but not officially or from any real 'worthy' sources, that BU has a better communications dept - one of the best in the nation.

However, BU's film dept does not allow students to start actual production and working with a camera until their junior year. How important are those years of general electives?

Emerson College:
This school is focused primarily on communications and the arts. But does this mean their journalism and film departments are good/better than BU?

I'm in a real crunch to decide which one to attend, because the financial aid deadline for Emerson is due very, very, very soon. I'd like to become a filmmaker after college, but studying journalism is a real important endeavor to me.

I'm really unsure as to which school to choose, though I am leaning a bit towards Emerson because its curriculum seems to fit my educational preference - basing this off my k-12 career, I tend to pursue my own interests (which isn't restricted to journalism or film, if that's what may be implied) and am currently rather bored with having to spend time in the math, science and language courses I am taking for my senior year (that doesn't mean I hate any of them.)

uh no one?

I'm familiar with both (my brother graduated from Emerson). Emerson is much much smaller, and has a nice network of alumni in show business in NYC and Los Angeles. BU obviously has the more famous name nationally for academics in general, but in show biz Emerson is very very well known (Steven Wright, Denis Leary, Jay Leno, Henry Winkler, Norman Lear, etc. etc.) From the way you've described your career plans, Emerson sounds like the place for you.

Emerson...hands down. Oldest S graduated last May and 2nd son will be attending Emerson in the fall. Like any school though, you must take advantage of what the schools offers. In Emerson's case it offers a lot, ie L.A. & Netherlands program, internships, etc

BU.
Though you don't start working on your own with a camera, you learn to network by hitching on to upperclassmen's projects the first two years. Everything Emerson has to "offer" is available at BU is well, the PR machine is just not as strong at BU. Study "abroad" includes not only an LA with internships program, but options in France, Spain and London ( i think) also with internships as well as many many many others (without internships).
Plus, if you have any interest in anything liberal arts (history, language... anything) emerson offers zilch, where BU offers a lot.
