BU vs Stanford Engineering

I’m currently planning to enroll to BU Electrical Engineering and I’m in a bit of a doubt. You see, I’m not completely sure it is strong enough. So my question is how strong is it and would transferring to Stanford, for example, make any difference?

I don’t know much about BU so I can’t comment on their program there although I would imagine most universities cover over the same material for the most part with major differences in environment and staff and resources on campus. That said, Electrical Engineering is considered by many to be one of the hardest, if not the hardest, major at Stanford. Something to consider if you’re able to get in.

BU engineering is fine, although obviously not on Stanford’s level. If you’re serious about transferring to Stanford, know that their acceptance rate is like 1-2% and I remember reading somewhere that of that 1-2%, 50% of those kids are CC transfers and such so I wouldn’t have my sights completely set on Stanford. Go there for Grad School, that’s one that I plan on trying for

Ok, and does anyone have a clue about staff and resources that teaches Computer and Electrical Engineering at BU? 'Cause I’m still a bit worried.

bu engineering is probably one of the best in the nation. it’s ranked very highly. they work extremely hard but other students usually don’t recognize their hard work. it’s similar to being a med student.

the resources in my opinion are very good. they have their own study lounge that requires swipe access for ENG students only. the professors are all VERY knowledgeable and have contributed significantly to their fields. i work in the engineering dept as an administrative assistant but i see everything that goes on. there are labs with high tech equipment, computer labs for students, and specialized programs such as CADlab, solidworks, and MATlab. at the end of your senior year, you will have to design some kind of product in your related field of study. you get some funding to do whatever you wish and are closely mentored by a professor. i am NOT an engineering student so i probably do not know what is good and what isn’t but from what i hear from my peers, engineering is ranked pretty well at BU. i just thought i’d let you know since i see what goes through the office. hope that helps a little
