BU Waiting List?

I got waitlisted to BU today…the letter said that the waiting list is “short and unranked”. Is there any chance of getting in if you’re on the waiting list? And does anyone know how they choose people off of it if it’s “unranked”?

Yeah I got waitlisted to. I don't know anything specific about it.

i got wait-listed too... yeah i have no idea what that means

looks like i'm not going to BU because they won't tell me if i get in by June 15, 2007

so like, what if they don't let me in

it would just be like ... oh. sorry, you're not going to college. whatever

Yeah, I'm so confused about it. How do we confirm we're going to other colleges by May 1 if we don't hear from BU until June? Ahhh!

Well if you're interested you accept a spot on the waitlist, confirm your enrollment somewhere else (with a like 500 dollar deposit or so) and then wait to see if you get in off the wailist and go to BU or get denied and go to that other school. That's just how waitlisting generally works though, I don't how many people BU accepts off the waitlist or anything though.

all i have to say is

f boston university, waitlisting is worse than a rejection

i didn't want to go there anyway!!!!

haha, i second de la noche's post.. i can't believe i got wait-listed..jesus..

same here, I was surprised. F you BU, I took my name of your list. RPI is better anyways...

lol. what if you get waitlisted and accepted? would you have to go?

f BU, do yourself a favor and remove your name. A lot of people got waitlisted and a lot of people with very crappy stats got in. I wonder if the same person read our applications. Maybe the person got divorce papers or something right before.

Gah I got waitlisted too...but my stats don't particularly stand out. I really wanted to go there too. Oh well. I think I'll end up writing them some sort of letter, or calling their admissions director.

just write a letter and hope--just keep in mind, they tend not to give much financial aid to people taken off the waitlist...so dont take someone's spot who is willing to pay if you aren't.

People with very ****ty stats at my school got in too. One's Indian, so I accept that. But alot of other got into CGS and now brag about it. C'mon now.

I got waitlisted and, I have to admit, I am extremely surprised. I was accepted to Syracuse (acceptance rate of 50%) and Northeastern (acceptance rate of 45%), both with scholarships, so I am confused that I didn't get into BU, which has the highest rate of all three, 58%. So wouldn't it make sense that if I got into colleges harder to get into than BU, that I would get into BU???

So yeah, I don't really know what to make of this, considering that people with scores lower than me got in. Luckily, Northeastern ranked way higher on my list than BU though, but I feel pretty stupid for having thought of NU has a safety! The only thing I can think of is that I have not yet taken pre-calculus, which BU HIGHLY recommends. I noted that I would take it over the summer, but that might not have been enough.

while syracuse and northeastern have lower acceptance rates, bu still maintains higher stats (gpa, sat)

this is simply because bu is basically an ivy-league safety...whereas the others dont get a whole lot of people who apply with such high stats

damnit....waitlisted....even worse than a rejection. like a prolonged rejection

i hope all you people who said "F U BU" declined their spot on the waiting list so others on the waiting list that wish to attend can get in.

gah I was waitlisted too... will we get a letter by snail mail about it?

i got a letter in the mail when i was waitlisted

waitlisted? then join the facebook group and vent
