garztan - they have to log onto myBucknell

Waitlist. 30 ACT, 3.8 w, 7 AP’s, varsity athlete, good EC’s, from CA. DD took a risk and was a bit silly with the essays. Not a big disappointment as she has been admitted to schools higher on her list, and she likely won’t accept the waitlist spot, but nice not to be rejected.

Congratulations to everyone who receives an acceptance!

Accepted to chemical engineering! 2250 sat, 3.94 uw gpa.

I GOT IN!!! 3.9 GPA, 2390 SATs and I only got $25,000 a year I was realllly hoping for more, so congrats to me!!!

Fly, how did you find out about your financial award? Was it online?

Accepted!! I’m surprised because I have 29 ACT no SATs or subject tests. 3.8 GPA and 4.0 weighted. 3 APs. I think FIRST robotics helped and the fact that my dad is an alumni. Still extremely excited!!

Waitlisted for engineering. 3.96 UW GPA, 2140 SAT, 32 ACT, 790 Math II 730 Chem. 7 AP’s, Job, good essay

Waitlisted 1400/2050 SATs, 3.6 UW, 3.8 W, 2 Sport Captain

Very disappointed, I thought I a legit shot to get in. Although reading other people’s decisions, I’m not too surprised I was. I didn’t show any interest, my essays were mediocre, and my recommendations probably were horrible (not because I’m a bad kid, moreso my teachers aren’t too bright).

Accepted! Engineering with 99.67/100 Weighted GPA, 2240 SAT, 8 APs, and very very bad essays. I did have a lot of ECs that were related to engineering though- including internships. Did anyone get scholarships/financial aid info with their acceptance?

Waitlisted: SAT: 1490/2220, GPA: 4.1, 6 APs, Math II: 780, Chem: 740. Pretty disappointed for my son. Bucknell was one of his top 3, and most likely of getting into as other 2 are Ivys. Maybe for the best though - he’s definitely a math/science guy (HS - 2yrs Chem, 2yrs Physics, 2 yrs Calc, AP Comp Sci, Intro Eng) and they are a LA school - I was never impressed with their engineering.

Rejected with 1330/1980 SAT (590 CR, 740 M, 650 W) and 30 ACT (25 R, 35 E, 34 M, 30S). 4.038 weighted GPA, great essays, awesome recs, and I showed a lot of interest (they acknowledged this in the letter). I thought being a girl applying into engineering would help, but I guess not. Pretty sure much of my rejection came from inability to pay considering 3 not-so-smart catholic school girls in this area got in. Need blind my a**!

Waitlisted with 1770 (570 W, 690M, 510 CR) and 105 TOEFL.

Accepted, 4.0 UW GPA and 4.4 W, 2260 SAT…

Does anyone know when/where merit (and financial, but that’s less important to me) aid information will be available?

I am just curious…

Did anyone who needed a LOT of financial aid get accepted? My son had stats above stats they list as the norm. He got rejected. However, we would have needed a lot of aid. Just curious about how much the need-aware factor may have played in this.

Accepted
SAT: 2220; 800 CR 670 M 750 W
SAT II: 780 US History 750 Lit 720 Math I 660 Span w/ listening
GPA: 4.0
Rank: 1/47
Decent EC’s
Pretty good essays
Recs should’ve been stunning

Maggiedog: needed a LOT of financial aid.

My EFC is 0 so yeah I’d say I need a LOT of financial aid, haha. I was accepted

It’s good to hear that they were generous with some of you. I think that for my son, his stats were not stellar - not like yours, izt, with a rank of 1 - good for you! I suspect that if someone is above the norm, but not stellar, perhaps fin. need may play a part.

maggiedog - A colleague of mine had her daughter get accepted with need for a great deal of financial aid. EFC of 0000 I believe. GPA was 3.7 or so and SAT scores were 2100. Stellar essays and truly incredible extra-curriculars (international fame).

Not sure Golfengineer realizes that Bucknell is both an excellent LAC but also is ranked #9 nationally by USNWR for best undergraduate engineering programs. The engineering school (as well as the school of management) are extremely competitive for admission, accepting only about 20-23% of applicants each year.

Villanova and Bucknell were notorious this year for not accepting those who may be “overqualified” and applying to the school only for a safety. They put them on the waitlist to see if they take any initiative to get accepted. 2350 SAT, 780 math 2 SAT 2, 760 History SAT 2, 6 APs, and 4.0 unweighted GPA and waitlisted. Not upset because, as Bucknell correctly assumed, this was a safety school for me. But congrats to all who were accepted!(:
