You can! I called cause I’m in the same situation (except I got a B-WISE) and you can have an academic scholarship and an arts merit scholarship at the same time. No aid is deducted from one or the other; if you get the Presidental Scholarship and the Arts Merit whatever you get from Arts Merit will be added on top of the 20,000 from the Presidental.
I thought Arts Merit was counted as an academic scholarship, but apparently not.
Are you going to the event this weekend? I’m excited and also nervous lol
I think the scholarship is done by email and then you submit short answers to three essays. Maybe the weekend they are discussing is for something specific.
Are you talking about the Arts Merit Scholarship? We had to submit works to slideroom. Last weekend was a dinner and auditions/interviews/mini classes for all the finalists. It was at Bucknell.
Yes, DD received the email yesterday and the letter today. From reading prior year threads, I am hopeful that it is a very positive sign. I couldn’t find anyone that posted that they received the letter subsequently posting that they were rejected. Several of those same people did post that they were ultimately accepted.
@Emsmom1 The Bucknell STEM Scholars program invites up to 20 admitted students to spend five weeks at Bucknell during the summer before freshman year. The letter was an invitation to apply. The deadline to apply is April 15th. I am guessing that they may preselect some students in order to give them time to apply. Details on the program are here: http://www.bucknell.edu/STEMScholars
On the Bucknell site, it gives the following stats of accepted students: 3.54 GPA, 590-680 Critical Reading middle 50%, 620-710 Math middle 50%. So, I thought with my nephews stats (4.24 GPA, 620 Critical Reading, 690 Math) Bucknell would be a high match for him. But he applied to engineering so maybe the stats are much higher for those accepted to engineering? Anyone know? I’m starting to get a bad feeling
