Is there any real discrepancy between the two?

Only thing I can think of is Stony would provide me with more research opportunities while Buffalo would provide a greater "college experience" that Stony lacks.

CpE major btw.

There’s no such thing as “college experience.” its just your experience that you get while you got to college.

but nevertheless, go where your heart is.

If you want to discuss about a particular department, then some departments at Stony are stronger than Buffalo for sure, and some are stronger at Buffalo.

I have to agree with what Magneto said. Both are suburban areas, and I don’t see why Buffalo offer a greater college experience. Unless you think smelling buffalo mean better experiences LMAO.

No. It’s how you like it. Both give you the dorm feeling, and they are large university. I know people party like mobs at Stony too (and they get good grades!!).

CpE I think both are good. Buffalo’s EE is probably better than Stony, while Stony’s computer science is a lot better than Buffalo’s (graduate rank of course). However, I feel that both departments are about the same. If you feel that research opportunities at Stony is slightly more than Buffalo, by all means go with it. I personally think Stony is more “internationally acknowledge” than Buffalo. I would go to Stony because their physics and CS are very good. It’s closer to NYC too. CpE is CS and EE at the level of computer. I would go to Stony.
