Got a 58/100 on first test and thought I really knew the material well. Each test is 30% of grade and the rest is just some filler quizzes and attendance. Only a sophomore so should I drop or just try to bring it up as the semester goes along? Got an A- in A201 so at this point I am just really shocked.
58/100 doesn’t mean anything without the context of the grade distribution. The class average on my Advanced Financial Accounting midterm last semester was a 56%, so 58/100 would have been a solid B.
The next test will be slightly easier. Re-read every chapter and constantly skim through chapters. Make sure you understand the material 100% when you’re studying. Be honest with yourself if you only understand a concept 90%…because it will bite you in this class. Learn to be flexible as you may have already learned. Lots of curve balls on the exams.
The class is curved but don’t depend on it too much. It might bump you from a C+ to a B- or a C to a B-.
