Considering the school has a huge international population, what is the reputation of BU abroad? Does anyone know?

Also, considering I will dish out gobs of money to attend grad school at BU, I would like to know just what the reputation of BU is across the nation.

What are it’s peer schools? I would think NYU, GWU, Syracuse, etc.?

I have just enrolled BU for its international recognition… I’m from Brazil and here ANYONE you ask has at least heard about BU…I was between BU and northeastern but if you ask any Brazilian about northeastern they will say: “I’ve never heard of it”

I have rejected a scholarship from northeastern just because of BU’s recognition internationally…However you should not base this on a college confidential post do some research about it. But at least from my perspective it is very famous overseas and it has very good associations

It seems like BU has a better reputation abroad than it does in the States.

When I went to Europe I met a lot of students who had BU on their list of top schools to attend.

I know it’s big in the Mid East, from what I hear too.

definitely, thats the BIG reason why i chose BU…If you want a school that has an excellent reputation abroad than go to BU

So employers in Brazil and Latin America would look highly on a BU degree?

Yes, in the company where my dad works (engineering company) everyone knows and recognizes BU.

That’s good news, caique.

That is one BRIC nation down (Brazil, Russia, India, China).

Anyone else have anything to add from their experience?

From what I have heard, BU is known for its international presence/reputation.

I’m so glad I’m going here next year! I chose BU over Northeastern for Economics!

Well with such a huge international student population, one would think that it’s international reputation is pretty solid.

Then again, so is GWU in DC and I wouldn’t call that school tops.

I don’t mean to bash it but just what is meant by being well recognized internationally?

Is it highly regarded as an excellent academic school or as a place where rich, above average intelligent kids go (according to one detractor).

Sometimes I feel like BU is underrated because of MIT and Harvard.

The reason why I ask is, if I choose to go to BU for grad school, I would like to take any and all opportunities available to study, intern and work abroad while in my program. I was just curious if the BU name goes a long way abroad. I am not expecting it to have the same cache as Harvard or MIT, but to have at least enough to be well recognized and be seen as a reputable institution.
