Bus Ride From KP to Washington, DC area

Many collage students have found bus charters going form St. Louis to Chicago for $35 one way. Our there any such deals out there going from KP to the Washington, DC area?

My D just started at GWU they said at orientation that there are several very reasonable bus fares. I'll try to contact her and find out

I think this is the one they mentioned.
Search here for Chinatown Bus Cheap Bus Tickets information to Boston New York DC Philadelphia express service

megabus.com (they'd just have to take the train to Penn Station on Manhattan)

From Penn Station NY to Bethesda, MD and DC for $25 one way, my son has taken the Vamoose bus system. Go to vamoosebus.com and you'll get all the information you need. His experience has been good and he's taken it both ways many times. We started with Amtrak but when we found out about this bus system, we quickly changed. $120 versus $25 one way. Add a couple of hours to his trip but he has found it a good time to sleep. Hope this helps!

I also recommend Vamoose - it runs to Bethesda and Arlington (Rosslyn) from Penn Station and it has worked and even I, parental unit, have taken it and found it easier than dealing with AMTRAK (getting there, parking or Metroing there). Also starting at Penn Station, BOLT, Megabus and Washington Deluxe go to different places in downtown DC. So depending on where you want to drop off and pickup, all seem to work cheaply and efficiently. My only caution is to check the schedules as some are more sporadic than others.

Bolt Bus also is good and cheap. Free wi-fi and it's at Penn Station.

We've tried all:
Chinatown -- each bus is different, eclectic passengers, not up to our usual sanitary standards

Bolt Bus -- clean, reasonable passengers, wi-fi, realiable at same location each hour, bid early enough on website can get DC to NY or vice versa for $5!

Vamoose -- ditto Bolt

There's another hispanic bus that runs from Arlington and B-CC we haven't tried.

Far cheaper to take the bus and a taxi, relaxing and reliable, than train/plane.

We put our son on the 9 AM VaMoose Bus in Arlington on Lynn Street and he called us from his room at Kings Point at 3 PM. Not bad considering we went and got him and spent 6.5 hours on the road just bringing him home on Friday afternoon. That plus the 5 hours up Friday morning, it made for a long day. The bus is definitely the way to go. He is coming home and going back that way for Fall Break. He said it wasn't bad at all and several other students joined him in Bethesda and everything went very well. He met a concert pianist going up to New York to play for the evening and enjoyed the conversation.

We will be VaMoosing it alot the next few months for the holidays. Our first experience with the bus system went better than we even thought. Thought others might like to hear a positive. Thanks to those that gave a synopsis of each bus company. It was most helpful.

Great information given here, thank you all. Can anyone tell me about Megabus vs. VaMoose. Round trip on Megabus from Ny to DC is like $34.00 vs. $50.00. Any pros or cons? From NY to Baltimore is $32.00. We are trying to get to Clarksburg, Md. Will the Megabus have internet?

Thanks again to all.

You can also get a pretty good deal if you buy a "Student's Advantage" card from Amtrak. Need to book 3 days in advance to get the discount, but low fares are there too, depending on when you are traveling. The card costs $50 for the four years your kid is a student. Pretty good deal.
