Bus

Hey, I already asked about BART, and this is kind of an offshoot of that. I live at bowles, and am wondering what is the closest Bus stop in that general area? Also, do all the buses go to the BART station, because that is the main reason I will be taking the bus. Thanks a lot.

How did you get stuck at Bowles?

It looks like there is Bear Transit shuttle service down the street from Bowles (on Gayley Road / Piedmont Road) to BART.

According to online info, Line P runs clockwise every 12 minutes until 7 p.m. and Line R runs counter clockwise every 24 minutes until 6:55 p.m.

It looks like a 10-12 minute bus ride in either direction.

Someone who lives at Bowles and actually uses the campus shuttle needs to advise you. Hopefully, when you check into the dorm, there will be specific info available.

thanks. Bowles wasn't even one of my choices. I really didn't want to have an ALL guy dorm. O well.

Originally I wanted Foothill, but after my CalSo the Units (1 2 3) seem like a lot more fun. Unfortunately i'm more of a studier, not partier, so im afraid that if i did go to the units i wouldn't get any work done (noise and what not)

it seems that those buses only run past 7ish. any earlier?

You are looking at the top of the bus schedule. They run from about 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Friday.

After that, there is night time service that runs every 30 minutes from 7:30 p.m. to about 2:30 a.m., but the buses take a slightly longer route from the Bowles area to BART.

Don't be so concerned right now. Cal has a great shuttle service and it will all work out for you in the Fall.

For Bowles:

You can take the 52L line heading North at the stop sign at the corner of Maxwell Field and across the street from Haas Business School, or the stop in front of Stern. This line will drop you off at Milvia and University, about three blocks away from Downtown Berkeley Bart Station.

Or, you can take the Perimeter Bear Transit Line at the East Gate stop, across the street from the Greek Theatre or the stop in front of the Demography department next to Haas Business School. Taking the Reverse Perimeter Line, there is a bus stop immediately in front of Bowles at the Bowles Stop Sign (you'll know it when you see it). For the P and RP lines, your stop will be at Center and Shattuck, across the street from the Bart Station.

There's also the F line, which will drop you off right at the BART station (literally). The stops near Bowles are identical to the Perimeter Bus line.

The night shuttles, D & E, there are stops for each line on either side of the Bowles Stop Sign, so it's convenient. It was always difficult for me to pinpoint when the day shuttles end and when the night shuttles begin. Just check the schedule and you'll be fine.

Hope that helps,
TTG

A bit off topic but...

I actually chose Bowles because I have heard it's more quiet compare to the Units, and it looks decent on the videos...

Until I found out what Bowles is REALLY like for ****'s sake.

Now I hope everyone who is going there should stop *****ing and try to make it a decent place to live in.

Easy toaster.
