Business/Accounting

How is the business administration program at Cal Poly Pomona?
Have there been good opportunities for internships during school and jobs for after graduation?
How did you like the program overall?
What other programs/schools is it comparable to?
What did you not like about it?

bump! anyone?

I am a fourth year accounting major at Cal Poly Pomona, and I would say that the program is decent. Cal Poly Pomona’s buisness program is accreditted by the AACSB which is the highest acheived accreditation for business programs, so the curiculum is decent. Some of the negatives about the accouting program is that it is definitely hard to get classes, but if you try your best you should still be able to graduate in 4 to 5 years. Most of the professors have doctorates or masters, but that does not necessarily mean they are great professors. The accounting program in my opinon is actually quite difficult and requires a lot of stuyding, especially when you get a difficult professor (there are quite a lot !). Getting an internship is really up to yourself, but the department does occassionally mail out internship opportunities, that you will have to apply to on your own. Cal State fullerton would probably be the most comparable to Pomona’s program, but I think Pomona’s reputation with the construction of a brand new business complex will definitely rise.

excellent program but tough major. teacher quality varies. all full time faculty have ph.d. degrees in accounting from major universities. my spies say dr. hurt is strong teacher but hard, dr. salimi is nicer and easier but dr. martin is very hard nosed.

yes, three building complex almost done. it looks fantastic from drawings on the web site.

How about fufilling CPA requirements does Pomona do a good job of that, and are a lot of students passing the CPA exams?
What kinds of internships and jobs have students been able to obtain?
