So i was recently accepted into ND and I wanted to know how difficult/easy it is to major in things between the college of business and the college of arts and letters (im somewhat new to it so sorry if the question seems to carry an obvious answer). I was interested in perhaps attatching a political science major along something in the business school. How's Notre Dame's political science department? does it have a quality that you think makes it unique? Thanks so much!

from what i have heard, those are common subjects to double major. with the except of architecture, and usually some engineering, most graduates double major and this combination sounds very possible

It depends on AP credit, but I am pretty sure it would not be too difficult to double major in business and political science. The major problems would be both the business school and arts and letters requirements. Business majors have to take a broad survey of classes not related to their major such as business law, business ethics, two 1.5 credit classes (forget what they’re called), intro to all the classes as well as two behavioral sciences. College of Arts and Letters requires you to take a second history/literature course (above the one required by the University), a fine arts course and a semester of intermediate language, so it pretty much will add about 14 classes to your business courses. It is definitely doable, just fulfilling all the requirements for the two schools and the University and the two majors may require some overloading OR AP credits. (I can’t be that much more specific because I am not familiar with political science courses or the business major you are interested in)

I wouldn’t say MOST kids double major, but many definitely do. It is quite do-able, but may require some careful planning, as has been mentioned. I was engineering first semester frosh year then switched to business, and later decided to add on history. I will graduate in four years, albeit thanks to some AP credits that afforded me a bit of flexibility.

It’s doable, though be aware that different majors in Business have different requirements.

CitricAcid, as I understand it, double-majoring in business requires to you be enrolled in Mendoza, so you would only need to fulfill the business college requirements, not the college requirements of Arts and Letters. As such, there is no foreign language requirement, the second history/literature class, or a college seminar, since they are not required by the business school. (You may still want to take these classes, however).
