Does UVA offer a five-year joint degree program BS/MBA, BA/MBA or something similar?

Thank you

Dean J,

Thank you

The 5 year joint degree program isn't a BS/MBA, but a Masters in specific business areas: BS/MS in Management Information Systems and a BS/MS in Accounting.

There's also the MS in Commerce program that's a 1 year program right after you finish your undergrad degree. All these programs are with the McIntire School of Commerce not the Darden School of Business Administration, where you would get an MBA. It's a little confusing, but UVa has 2 business schools.

You could apply to one of the McIntire MS programs immediately after graduating, but I'd only consider that if you didn't get a good offer by your fourth year. What's the point of an MS in finance if you're going off to a bulge bracket investment bank?

Most good MBA programs, like Darden, look for at least four years of experience from applicants, so you probably would not get in out of undergrad. Most people with the credentials to get in out of undergrad would probably get good jobs anyway.

I know a couple of 4th years doing MS in Accounting to get their CPA.

Ernst and Young pays for it anyway.

But people who want to go into finance-related jobs rarely goes for the extra year.

well, not that many third years are going to intern for bulge bracket banks this year, unfortunately (blame it on the economy). Now that bear stearn summer and full time offers are revoked, life just got worse for some of us. Hopefully Professor Maillet (former COO of JPMorgan HK) can help them out.
