While visiting UVa, I remember hearing about a program recently installed at UVa in which a student who does not get into McIntire as a sophomore can stay for a 5th year and get a masters degree in business. Can someone knowledgeable on this topic explain a little further?

McIntire has a prospective student page with links to each of the Masters programs they offer.

I just got admitted to the M.S. Commerce. I am not a business major from UVA, at UVA I am a history major. I never applied to the undergrad business program. On the grad application, it specifically asks whether you applied for the undergrad program. I would recommend making a decision when you come to UVA---try for the undergrad program and hope you get in, or take another major and apply your senior year for the Master's. Hint: so far the UVA business master's program is relatively easy to get into, compared to UVA law and med school, and if you do what I did (transferred 30+ AP credits), you can graduate from undergrad in 3 years and use the 4th year for master's.
