Where are some common places/areas Business Economics degree holders work? What would be the best way of getting experience and networking to make the most a a degree like the one I'm getting?

But what should one do to maximize the potential of this degree. I realize the basics of getting experience, summer opportunities, work, volunteer and extra curricular and the like, but what are the best places to look for experience?

For those getting an Economics or Business Economics degree, where do you guys plan on working and how are you planning on getting there?

I originally chose this major with the idea of going into law school after, but now I don't want to do that.

A lot of people with UG degrees in economics go to graduate school. While a degree in economics is well respected, not many economics majors actually become economists.

I’ve known people with economics degrees who worked in smaller finance and accounting jobs.

I could see anyone with an economics degree succeeding in the business world, but as for getting a job, I would think economics majors would be pushed over a bit by more specific majors, depending on the area.

Even if you don’t go to law school, I would highly suggest getting a masters in economics. Don’t quote me on it, but I beleive a lot of masters in economics degrees can be earned in one year.

I go to UCLA and am doing Biz Econ there - for us, at least, the “business” portion is accounting, so many naturally go into accounting as it is somewhat of an applied major that actually, to some extent, trains you for something.

Econ majors I know typically end up as research assistant, finance analyst, operations or junior accounting positions after UG. If their grades is top notch, they apply for IB or Consulting.

commentcomment, based on those things where do you think I should be looking for summer employment/internships? It’s almost January and I have to start looking, but I’m not sure what would kind of thing would make me look more capable of being a financial/research analyst, or even a consultant if I have a chance at that?
