Business Elective Suggestions for Accounting

To me the obvious choices are finance or economics courses, but I’ve also heard IS is a very good background as well. Furthermore, seeing as class/subject offerrings varies from school to school, be really help if y’all could list the general subject in that area you think would be helpful.

Brief Plan:
I plan to go straight out of my undergrad into a MAcc program (unsure whether Taxation or Fin. Report & Auditing) to be eligible for the CPA exam (course credit requirement wise). That’s about all I got lol

You will be hired on the strength of your accounting degree. As part of that you will have to take a core business curriculum which will include subjects like finance, economics, IT, etc. When it comes to a pure business elective, go with whatever interests you.

Well I’m already in the program, I’m approaching my senior year. With my BBA degree, they require 2 non-accounting (but business still) required electives, which is why I asked. Honestly, I find most business-related fields interesting so kinda was looking for a “tipping factor”.

I honestly don’t think any one or two courses out of 5 years of undergrad and grad school will provide you with any measurable tipping factor. Your ability to secure a good job will be based on your GPA, resume, and interview skills not if you took an extra finance or economics class. My S is a recent accounting grad and took his business electives in things he just liked or with a professor he wanted to take (ex. an advanced econ. class because he heard the prof. was great, a marketing in East Asia class because he spent a summer in China) – perhaps they weren’t the most “useful” classes but he enjoyed them and got multiple Big 4 offers.

No, no, lol. Not asking about tipping factor towards increasing my chances of getting a job. I meant more towards, something like non-accounting related subjects (not majors, but actual class subjects) that may be useful.

For example, there’s probably no point for me to take a web development class but maybe I should take a sales class, to improve my background there?
