I know this gets asked a lot and I apologize but compared to most people that ask this question, I’ve taken quite a few courses to get a feel for everything (junior in college). After this semester, I’ll be out of general education and general business classes, and I’ll have to start taking major-specific classes.
I’ve kinda narrowed it down to accounting, finance, economics, and management but I just don’t know how to choose cause they all have their pros and cons.
If you truly are indifferent, and it doesn’t make you miserable, choose accounting. Accounting is the language of business and will open up the most doors for you once you graduate.
Yea that is actually my current choice (before I took my other business classes). I just really don’t know because those 4 subjects are like the classes that I looked forward to going to.
I found though that a common theme that I looked across them was the decision making process like not necessarily “being in charge” but actually being able to advise with the use of my skills (if that makes sense). Which is my only hesitation with accounting is that it feels very, boring in regards to, you prepare the information to be presented but you really have no role in how the company operates. Though don’t get me wrong, the process itself I love, like doing all the calculations and managing balance sheets, income statements, state of cash flows, etc.
I always tell students that you do not not know if you will be an accounting major until you take intermediate accounting. So if you are leaning towards an accounting major, take intermediate acct. Given your above thread, you might have more interest in finance.
