Business fraternities

I have a few questions about business frats...is anybody here currently in one?

anybody???

most of them are more social than for business but they're cool nonetheless. if you can get to an officer position (prez, vp) you can bs on your resume that you did something important.

Ya I really want to get into one but my parents think that it will be all partying. How can I get them to agree with me?

well it first depends on which school you are going to. at u of I, there are some including: phi chi theta, phi belta lambda, phi gamma nu, and alpha kappa psi. they are truly business frats and the only partying they do basically come down to bar crawls and maybe a party here or there. they actually do get recruiters down here and try to help you with your resume and stuff. Show your parents the web site of the fraternity and have them talk to the business college at your college. also, it's your decision to do what you want in college, my parents don't know I'm in 4 different clubs and you don't have to tell them everything.

Im going to Texas. Thats a good idea, I'll have my parents talk to McCombs about the business frats.

what's with business fraternities? what do they do?

Heres an article about them: <a href="http://www.businessweek.com/bschools/content/may2006/bs20060524_980726.htm?chan=search%5B/url%5D">http://www.businessweek.com/bschools/content/may2006/bs20060524_980726.htm?chan=search</a></p>

Well Alpha kappa psi is starting a chapter at the University of maryland and i am one of the founding fathers. I felt like it was a really strong business fraternity. Now the UMD business school is not endorsing the fraternity. They have a traditional view of a frat thinking it will be nothing but trouble. As a credit to them, they have had problems with business frats in the past and have decided that they will not endorse us. I feel it is a good networking tool and we will still become a frat but will have no affiliation with the business school just yet. They said they could reconsider in the future.

So what will u guys be doing that will establish urselves as a business frat? Anything that regular frats dont?
