gpp2010 - So your son hasn’t been officially admitted to McCombs, but he got a BHP interview. I’d say that’s a pretty good sign! We have a friend in the same situation but to my knowledge he hasn’t been called for an interview.

smart2010 - I really have no clue as to how they do it, but from what I’ve read on CC, it seems like it’s a matter of who gets your name to interview you and when they can do it.

I’m a nervous wreck; my son is as cool as a cucumber. Maybe he knows something about himself that I don’t - lol.

I wonder if there is any difference in the acceptance rate if you are interviewed by “admissions” versus alumni. I was told that I would hear in mid-February. I really want this and my mother is a neverous wreck.

I had my interview yesterday–it wasn’t with an alumni, though. The overall thing was really casual–roughly 15 minutes were spent on 3 questions and the rest of the time was allotted for me to ask my interviewer questions.

He mentioned that results should be sent out next week.

Kids that applied before the priority deadline are being offered interviews atm. So, if you applied afterwards, don’t freak out!

I would think that having an admissions person interview u could either help u out a lot or hurt you a lot since he/she would have more influence.

I applied to bhp in late october. My mom lives in texas, but I go to school in va. I applied in-state. I have 3.9 unweighted and 4.25 weighted with 1420 sat with decent extra curriculars and good essays. I haven’t gotten word whether or not I got into mccombs business school let alone bhp or any interview. I don’t really care about bhp, but I do want to be in mccombs at least. Should I be worried?

zander, I’m clueless as to your chances, but I wish you the best.

smart2010 - that is hilarious about your mother. Are you my son perhaps? If not, tell your mom she can join the BHP nervous wreck-waiting club. My son is good with just being in McCombs, but I can’t bear the thought of rejection. :)

windowbob, u r right, my son was interviewed without being admitted to McCombs. But I saw in CC that there is no fixed sequence of getting the interview and getting admission into McCombs. But there is a seq. of admission offers and it is as follows:

1) UT General Admission Decision–> McCombs Admission Decision –>BHP Ad. decision

I sent my application in to UT on Oct. 13, received an email to do a phone interview on Nov. 5.

Standard questions, alumni interviewer: Explain a moment of leadership, favorite extracurricular, how would your teachers describe you, and examples of teamwork, etc.

No, my counselor said that they have rolling admissions and review folders over time. Even the BHP website references the process. Hold tight! Only deal breaker is that you do have to get invited to an phone interview. TIME WILL TELL…I heard they finish up the interviews by the end of March.
