Business Honors Program (BHP) Interview

I think interviews are done over phone only. By the way, has anybody got any acceptance/rejection from BHP yet?

I’m really excited to find out if I made it! The lady told me, “You should be hearing from us soon.”

Yes, all interviews are phone interviews.

And based on when you sent in your application, you should hear back from tops I would say a month (more if you sent it in after priority deadline of November 1).

People who turned it in before Nov. 1 get to hear back in “mid-January”. Waiting once more!

As it turns out, you can add windowbob to the list of those interviewed. So as not to sound frantic, I casually mentioned that some kids on CC were getting their interviews. To which he casually replied, “Oh, yeah, I had mine already, didn’t I tell you?” He said it was “that day I asked you if you had any thank you cards.” Duh, didn’t even think to ask who he was sending the note to – just figured it was for a teacher or someone who donated something to one of his community service projects. So now I can stop being nervous about getting an interview and start being nervous about getting accepted. lol

hey windowbob! so happy to know that your kid is already interviewed.
Here is the updated list

4)smart2010
5)tspade
6)windowbob

expandmyhorizons, are you sure that means you actually got into the program?

The interviewer could have simply meant that you would get your decision in mid-january like everyone else who applied before Nov. 1st.

I also had an interview with BHP, gpp2010.

I just wanted to pop in and give some info from a couple of years ago - my son was interviewed, but ultimately didn’t get in. No worries though, he’s now in the MPA program and really glad he’s on that track. So, a no isn’t the end of the world, just be happy you’re in McCombs.

For some stats - he was a valedictorian with good test scores, lots of awards and activities, but mostly sports related. The interesting thing was that another girl in his school, also a val, with the exact same scores down to the subscores, got in - the difference was that she had a ton of activities in business related things, like Academy of Finance and summer internships in banking, etc. I really think that was the difference, because numbers wise, they were identical (oh, but she was a girl  don’t know if that made a difference though)

Good luck!

Also, he has friends who applied as sophomores and got in, so that’s another route (just make sure you don’t take the classes that preclude you from applying, the info is on the website).

Very good piece of advice ag54!
Miriel, here goes the updated list

7)Miriel

Miriel, thats why I said im excited to find out IF i made it…
i obviously dont know if i made it.

I had 2 sons interview, one got in, one did not. They were very similar, both ranked 1st, sports, clubs, test scores, etc. One was in; the other was not. Could not tell you why. It is just one of those things!

The one that got in went elsewhere and is very happy.
The one that did not get in is at UT in McCombs, very happy to easily fit in a minor, loves his classes and his UT experience!

I agree with ag54…not matter what happens, it is not the end of the road. You can apply as a sophomore or move in another direction!

Lol, sorry expandmyhorizons

I skipped the “if” part for some reason.

Isn’t 01/15 same as mid January? Everybody who got interviewed were told that we would get the admission decision by mid January & here we are but still scratching our head …LOL! I saw a news about workforce reduction in McCombs. Is it a side-effect of that:-)

gpp2010, my father is a regular follower of your posts, and we too are waiting for ut bhp decisions. My interviewer had said I’d know of their decision by the end of this week…and it’s Friday. :(

aah, that’s what my interviewer said too!

WHEN ARE THEY COMINGGG

Also waiting in Atlanta. Does anyone know if the announcement is coming via mail, e-mail, or website?

I think it’s coming by mail. It actually might take a while because they probably started mailing everything now. My Plan II acceptance letter was dated 12/4/2009, but it came to me on 12/15/2009. (And I only live 2 hrs away from Austin lol)

So, you never know, we might end up getting them next week.

People have told me that the interview is a “formality” and that most people who are invited to give a telephonic interview get in.

How true is this, does anyone know?

just curious.

No, it is not just a formality. Some interviewed do not get in.

flatxca, I remember you wrote that one of your sons did not get in even after he was interviewed. could you throw some light on that? thanks

I heard that if you are admitted to BHP you get a packet with a mixer invite in it and a current student calls you to welcome you.

Flaxaca, is this true?
