Business instate or out of state?

My philosophy is don't go out of state unless I get accepted into an ivy league. I have a 2140 SAT score so most of my ivy leagues are high reaches. I already got accepted into Rutgers Business and I live in NJ. I feel like most of the non-ivy leagues are at the same rank as Rutgers besides Ross School. Are there any non ivy leagues or matches considering my SAT worth the price of going out of state?

What’s your GPA?

Any preferences re: major?

What’s your budget?

Out of state vs. in state only matters if you apply to public universities. (There’s no OOS/IS difference if you apply to private universities). Private universities may turn out to be a good surprise - run the Net Price Calculators.
For example, Susquehanna University’s Business school is AACSB accredited, can be combined with the Honors Program, and would provide nice merit aid for your stats.
Dickinson College has generous need-based and merit aid, and its International management program is top-notch, with a year or a semester with business classes abroad.
It may be worth a shot, both financially and for better study conditions (smaller classes, less red tape, etc)
Another reason I can think of is purely fun, and thus would only be possible if your parents have the money, but a school like UNC-Wilmington would probably offer you merit money (you’d get into their Honors College) and is right on the beach. ASU Barrett is one of the best Honors College in the country and you could discover the American SouthWest.
All in all, I think college is a great time to go out of state as long as it doesn’t cost you too much. It’s the only time in your life when you can discover another part of the country freely, without risks involved (unlike when you’re married or have a job, when you can’t just pick up and leave.) However, it has to be done with careful planning.
And since you already have a very nice college to which to go, sending 1-3 applications to match schools you like is totally risk-free - at worst, if you get in but don’t get enough financial aid, or if you decide you like Rutgers better, you haven’t lost anything.

My GPA is like 4.55 weighted out of 5. I don’t get the appeal of spending more money just to get away from home and get the experience

Can you name some schools slightly better or on the same level as rutgers

ASU Barrett or Dickinson are much higher ranked than Rutgers.
South Carolina’s International Business program is ranked #1 in the country.
Susquehanna’s Business program would be well-ranked, not sure how it compares to Rutgers’.
The key point here is that it could cost you the same or less to go in another part of the country, not more.
As to why: The US is a huge country. Seeing how others live, what you can learn from them, and discovering aspects of the American culture that you haven’t experienced yet is essential professionally, especially if you plan to work in business, but also personally, to get out of your cocoon and grow.
