business major: notre dame vs. usc

i got in marshall for usc.. im STILLLLLLLLL deciding where to go.. i mean notre dame has a business school but its not great in terms of rankings.. and its in south bend.. a small city which may not give me as many internship opportunities.. but then if i go to usc.. that means i cant go to notre dame!!!!!!!!... and its notre dame!!!! i dont want to give up on such a great school..and people are telling me how valuable the alumni network is if i go to usc.. what about notre dame??

so... what do you guys think?? anything would be helpful thank you guys!!

Notre Dame has one of the BEST alumni networks... not to mention Mendoza is often ranked above Marshall... I'm not sure where you're getting your numbers from. Notre Dame is the clear choice here unless you really want to be in L.A.

Mendoza was just ranked third by Businessweek, behind Penn & UVA.

Its also been ranked at the very top of a lot of business ethics rankings, if that makes a difference to you.

It may be a homer opinion but I firmly believe that the alumni network at ND will do far more for you in the long-run than the alumni network at USC. Both our good, but I would put ours up against anyone else's; they are amazing!

Notre Dame has a great UNDERGRAD business school. It's grad school is terrible, but that really doesn't affect you since you are undergrad.

I have a $17,000 a year scholarship to Marshall and I turned it down for full price Notre dame, if that helps.

You are a good man! Ahh, sorry, I hate USC, lol.

irish- I won't be going to ND, but I'm totally with you on the 'SC thing. GO IRISH!

Notre Dame vs USC Football Rivalry
(UCLA vs USC rivalry ;))

Boo USC!

how come the rankings for undergrad business programs are SO DIFFERENT in us news than in the new businessweekly... marshall is 9th in us news and 21 in the other one... notre dame is nowhere to be found on us news but 3rd in the other one... this is so wierd... i don't know...

US News does GRADUATE school rankings. The one that you're looking at is for GRADUATE school. If you plan to attend undergrad and grad school in the same college, than Notre Dame is not the right place for you. But MOST people will go to differant universities for undergrad/grad school.

US News does have an undergrad page, but it only lists a couple schools. I think the only ones that were listed were Wharton, Sloan, UC Berkeley and UCLA.

McDonald's,

Not true, US News has undergraduate rankings of Business and Engineering schools. It is done completely by peer assessment. For the most recent listing ND ranked 22. Tied with Michigan State, the University of Maryland and the University of Washington.

In that ranking USC was listed as number 9.

At the end of the day, don't base your decision on rankings. You can learn what you need at either school and do well. Find what is best for you.

You have to look at what they are using in their rankings but I have always been a bit iffy on their peer assessment. Just look at the categories and see if they are the ones that are important to you. As Eagle said, however, there are many things more important than rank (such as fit).
