So many people on these forums say majoring in business is the way to go, but I just can't see how that is possible. According to a government website (Fast Facts), the most popular degree of 2008-2009 was a business degree. Isn't the job market flooded with business majors, causing an oversupply of qualified individuals? Please share your opinions, as I am stuck between majoring in Biology (my current situation) or changing my major to economics or finance.

Business majors are everywhere, I would never say all business majors are qualified though. I go to a public ranked 28th and there are still kids in every class that I would never go into business with. Try for the best program you can get into and make the best grades possible…

No, and nowhere in my post did I say that. I just can’t see how people are saying business degrees are the way to go when so many people are majoring in business. In a couple of years, after the hundreds of thousands of people that graduate with business degrees have jobs, where will the new graduates find employment? I am simply trying to understand everyone’s logic here. I am a freshman interested in my options and just trying to pick the best route for myself.

Yea thats exactly what i think…because a business degree is magical and it only has an affect on the job market unlike all the other majors… (sarcasm)

If you don’t have any advice then please don’t comment. thanks.

What advice do you expect to get? After all you wanted an opinion. If you are that worried about potential employment in the future then just don’t major in it. Stick with biology if you are so concerned. You are just contradicting yourself saying that a business degree may not be “the way to go,” but are in a situation to change your major to either finance or econ.
