I'm sort of in a tough position because I want to go to school on the east coast (New England down to NC and as far west as Chicago), but I want to eventually live on the West Coast. Does anyone have any information on some schools that offer business in the region I'm looking at that are respected on the west coast?

U Penn
U Michigan
UVA
NYU

I am applying to Penn ED and U Mich. NYU is too much of a city for me, it doesn't have any true campus. As for UVA, I looked at their employment statistics from the class of 2005, and only two graduates are working in California. I like the school a lot but I want to make sure they are respected on the west coast.

Northwestern

What about CMU?

I think that applying ED to Wharton is a good idea. I have a lot of classmates who are working in Cali right now.

whartonalum, what field did you end up going into?

Dont mean to be thread jacking but I am almost the exact opposite. I think I would perfer to go to school out west (california girls :) (business major) and hopefully land a job in NYC, Boston, or DC. So what west coast schools have good reputations back east? I am thinking:

University of Washington
USC
Univeristy of San Diego

I am kind of trying to stay away from the California public schools because they are so hard to get into from out of state. But actually I would be happy with any of the schools you guys listed on the east coast and will proably apply to those as well. Any other good undergrad bschools out west?

I concentrated in Marketing and Management and work in the non-profit sector (which was my dream, so no, not all Wharton students are finance/i-banking obsessed!).
